Hello

Would a 1500$ used ninebot z10 bouth in April 2019 be a good opportunity?

I know this wheel might be problematic. But I would love trying it

Just to know if there's like 50% chance that it would just be broken in a few months

I don't have any advice one way or the other, but for the sake of discussion: just how used is it?  I'm seeing brand new ones via google search for less $1500.

Personally, I wouldn't spend $1500 on a used wheel. You have plenty of options for a brand new one for $1500 and it will come with at least 1 year warranty. Of course, if you know your source is reliable and it's a great bargain, then consider.

If you want a Z10, why not. Not sure how much it costs new, but probably quite a bit more.

Do you know the seller? Is it bought from ewheels which would mean easy support for possible problems ? Where would you get parts if something broke? A few questions to help answer your dilemma

Yes I would be 1500 Canadian dollars, so around 1200$US.

The guy bought it by himself on Ali, so no support from a local or US store. But he says he bought a later batch of the z10, that seems less problematic (is it?)

He already did like Around 500 miles with it without problems yet. So as I heard the Z mainly has problems straight out of the box or after few miles I as thinking maybe this one would be good long term. But I can not find info on Z bugging after months of riding (or maybe I missed something?)

I don't follow the details, but there is some specific issue (with some burned contacts or something) that may or may not appear (not sure how it relates to the batches or if it has been fixed). I think the details are in this thread, you can also ask there how they judge the probability of a later failure, and all other Z10-specific questions:

My opinion, you want a Z10, here's one for a rare low price. So if you can live with the risk (and maybe confirm a backup plan where to get parts, you can also ask in the other thread), it seems to whisper "Buy me!! Buy meeeeeee!" to you A comparable wheel is probably going to cost more (and if you want the Z10, there's just no comparable wheel).

I bought mine in July 2018. Imported it directly from my dealer in China. Never had any issues or accidents. Just ordered myself another one here in Japan to have a spare in case they would ever stop producing them. It’s a great EUC, the one that rules them all. Couldn’t be a day without my Z10. Just for reference: It cost me 187.000 Yen (approx. 2.300 CAD) brand new. So 1500 CAD sounds like a good deal. 

I guess it depends on the reason the previous owner wants to sell it. Some people buy things they can’t handle, some people sell shit that is broken. If you can afford a 1500 CAD gamble buy it. If not, go the extra mile and get a brand new one. The Z10 is definitely worth its money.

Have you asked the “guy” why he wants to sell it? Knowing his reasons for selling a Z10 would be important to me.

I seem to recollect seeing new ones for ~$1500.

I love my Z10. Personally I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a used one because of the dubious service options available to us. I would instead search out a new one for about the same price. A quick Google search lists many in that price range.

I have had my Z10 very close to one year (30/09/2018) and put 3000 kms on it without any issue.  I love the individuality/unique appeal and the way the Z10 rides. 

I have heard rumours of a Z10 Pro in the pipeline and I personally will gladly buy that wheel if the rumours prove to be correct, but also suggest to you in your case that if you are happy to take a risk after asking all the right questions, then go for it. 

It has also been mentioned in another thread by @Hsiang, that Ninebot claim to have fixed the issues with Z10's built after April 2019, so a New/newer Z10 at the right price may help ease your concerns!

The way that Segway-Ninebot operate, you are most probably correct.  They play their cards close to their chests so your guess is as good as mine!

I hope so. Last week I just ordered myself a second brand-new Z10 (for Sundays and Holidays only). So I would hate it, if a Z10Pro came out this year. 😂 but ... but ... but ... next year! I would love to have another 10-15 km/h of speed more on the Z10 and a bit more power on grassy hills in the mountains. Hope the Z10Pro will make that a reality. What features are on your wishlist?

As you yourself suggested, more power and torque both for climbing hills as well as braking whilst descending hills.  Who knows what they are actually working on for the New model (if it really is in the works!!!), but to offer more performance than the current Z10 would have to be a large part of the package IMO to warrant the "Pro" in the title. 

It would be great to get some more solid information from someone like @Turbocharged.  I think from memory he may have had some connection/contact with the engineers at Segway-Ninebot judging by his Z10 postings, even as far back as when the Zed was still in the beta stages.  Unfortunately, he has not visited these forums since last October sadly!

Yes. Such features would be great. They can leave the design as it is. It’s perfect and timeless. So let’s hope for the best and see what Santa Clause will bring us.
