  Everyone loves Timbits (think donut hole bits), but ya gotta respect the rules regarding wildlife.  Otherwise bears start getting shot as “the bad guys” when they seek out more snacks from people.

Don't think I want to ride my EUC along the Alaska Hwy anytime soon. If dogs get cray cray and start chasing you, imagine what it would do to those bears.

Cuz it's bear not ducks

Here's from National Park Service why we should not feeding bears:

  • It changes behavior by causing wild animals to lose their instinctive fear of humans. This lack of fear causes panhandler or "nuisance" animals to be more unpredictable and dangerous when they encounter humans.
  • Nuisance animals can damage property and injure people. These animals pose a risk to public safety. They can also teach their cohorts this dangerous behavior. Often, they must be euthanized.
  • It transforms wild and healthy animals into habitual beggars. Studies have shown that panhandling animals have a shorter lifespan. Beggar animals may die from ingesting food packaging. Many animals have died a slow and agonizing death from eating plastics and other materials. Many are hit by cars and become easy targets for poachers.

Naturally bears stay away of humans because they don't know us. If they get used to get easy food from humans they don't want to hunt anymore. Since they know humans are not threatening to them they will start going to populated area for that easy food and might even attack humans. They also teach their kids so basically altering the entire linage of that bear. See the big problem?

Oh the bare necessities, the simple bear necessities!  :w00t2:

Then again, there was that one guy...  that kinda gives people mixed messages about not getting too close to wildlife...
