Personally I just hope this doesn't become a thing as IMO it's the wrong direction for successful local group curation. Unsolicited opinion: I'm a gamer and huge user of Discord (literally every day), but frankly I think it's the wrong tool/poorly suited for providing the two main functions of an online presence for something like this--baseline info on the group & scheduled upcoming events, and discoverability for potential new members. This is not to defend/advocate for Facebook, but then there are a dozen other online tools I would use before Discord for this--even as simple as one of the many free website creation tools. (Of course one could link to a Discord from there which might be a fine addition for members to chat whenever or to coordinate rides in realtime through the phone app without having to exchange contact info; I just think it's poorly suited as a primary web presence for a successful group.) (Which would undermine the spirit and theme of our list.) To be extremely clear: I'm not against groups that feature OneWheels among their riders or even in their title, but where I have currently been drawing the line is when they *only* have "OneWheel" in the name (a la "Orlando OneWheel") and/or when the name is entirely centered on what is clearly OneWheel-specific marketing jargon (re: "float" this or that). If this is something that you have any influence over and/or that might matter to you, I would encourage you to push for such groups to at least append/include other PEVs (esk8, EUC, etc) to their name and/or even just the term "PEV" itself to their name. When it's not winter up here we do weekly Saturday group rides and there's always random pick-up rides throughout the week.
