Maybe @Rehab1 wants to get rid of one of his wheels?

 Toledo is at my back door! Have you tried riding an EUC before Matt?

I may part with one of my wheels once the KS 16X arrives. What is your budget?

Around $600 or a little more  depending on the wheel. I currently ride a boosted and wanted to get a wheel. What type of wheel might you sell?

Hi Matt,  Unfortunately the wheel I have in mind  , the V10F, would exceed your budget. The Inmotion V5F I believe is selling around $550 which is within your price range.

Sale going on at Gearbest

I’m not sure yet. I like the wheel. Just need to receive the 16X before I make any decisions. Unfortunately I will be in Vegas when it arrives.

What price would you put on the v10? And I've looked at the v5. Any thoughts on the gotway mcm5 with a smaller battery?

I know these can be had for cheap, but they're 67V versions which are a bit weaker than the standard 84V version that comes in 800Wh and 650Wh. But that's not so bad. The batteries are small, which is the real limitation. I believe the cheap one is below 200Wh which really isn't very safe.

But it depends on the details! Maybe it's an option for you. What would be your riding weight? What MCM5 exactly are you looking at, do you have a link or picture with the specs?

Maybe you also find a good price used wheel nearby. That will always be the most bang for your buck.

My riding weight would be around 155 to 160lbs . I just want a wheel to keep up with my boosted since my son will be on that. We really only ride maybe 12 to 14 miles at a time

I'm just not sure on the stats this shows with the smaller battery. Screenshot_20190722-113330_eBay.thumb.jpg.a23c22b01eaa7948c3d6e51916a53cd6.jpg

How fast does the boosted board typically go?

As a quick estimate, for 14 miles, you'll need about 450Wh (20Wh per km/32Wh per mile). Depends on the speed. You might get away with the 420Wh, but probably it is a bit too low (always nice to have some reserves!).

Anyways, stay away from the 130Wh and 210Wh versions. The batteries are just too small to be safe.

The other options are not bad! It depends on the price of course. Which one to choose? In doubt, 84V is better than 67.2V (see under "battery" in the chart you posted), but a bigger battery always beats everything else. How much is the 510Wh and 650Wh?

Also check prices on Aliexpress (China import, possibly looooong delivery time), and maybe still a nice used wheel comes up:) Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

The MCM5 is an awesome wheel that should keep up with your son.

Be sure to save a few bucks for safety gear- at least a helmet and wrist guards. Your’s son’s b board with remain upright down it’s path if it looses power - not an EUC. We only need one major EUC accident in Toledo. An Ottawa Park trail by Toledo Hospital was my nemesis.

We usually travel around 16 to 18 mph at the most.  Do you think the mcm5 would do those speeds with the 420wh battery? The listing says it will do 21mph with the 420wh battery.  That seems a bit fast for the smaller battery.

Really hard to answer your questions. It's so borderline and I'm just a guy guessing.

Also, 420Wh is typically a 67V battery size (despite being listed as 84V), and other sellers list it as 67V. So I would expect it to be 67V despite being listed as 84V here.

Officially (best case, see pictures below courtesy of ewheels.com) the 84V MCM5 has the top speed alarms between 43kph/26.7mph (100% battery) and 34kph/21mph (10% battery, but the additional low battery beeps will already have slowed you down by then). The 67V MCM5 goes from 34kph/21mph to 27kph/16.7mph. Absolute top speeds where the beeps start.

2 questions here:

  • How long will you be able to ride those speeds (16-18mph) before the lowering battery slows you down?
  • Should you be going that fast with a small battery like this? 25kph/16mph would be more of a typical speed.

If the boosted can keep going 16mph for all 14 miles, the 420Wh MCM5 most likely won't be able keep up and maybe not have the range (650Wh or 800Wh no problem in both respects!). But I have no idea how close it would be.

TLDR: probably "no".
