Brisbane Australia EUC riders

E-RIDERZ

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Steve from E-RIDERZ in Brisbane Australia here.  Calling out to all EUC riders in the greater Brisbane region.  Get in touch if you would like to participate in group EUC rides in Brisbane area.  Might be up for Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast rides too depending on numbers of riders interested.

Great opportunity to meet other local EUC riders, try out different models, ask questions or get support. We have so many amazing places to ride and enjoy, so lets meet up and get out there to ride and explore together!

If there’s a quick and easy way to get my wheel from Melbourne I’d love to legally ride it, I did buy my wheel from E-Riderz, Gotway MSX, it’s unreal!

i can get there for free as I’ve got free flight credit,  but I can’t smuggle the wheel onto the plane :( LOL

Hey folks, new rider in Brisbane. Seen a few around (another guy on an S2 and a v8) but all the local rider groups I can find are dead. Interested in group rides if any happen :)

Hi @Brendan Halliday, sorry I missed your message here, I was unwell mid November around the time you posted here so I totally missed it!  Welcome to the EUC club!

Yes there are a number of EUC riders in Brisbane and it is definitely growing!  I'm still very keen to get more people together to go for group rides, and with December holidays coming up I will be out there enjoying the nights riding more frequently.  I will message you to discuss a catch up time.

@Trevor Phillips Yes I think it's for the best you avoid trying to smuggle your MSX onto a plane!!  Haha.  But if are visiting Brisbane anytime, leave yours at home and we will ride together on one of the MSX we have here already :)

Hey all,  I'm new to EUC, less than 300Ks on my V8. Keen for group rides. I'm located near the Gabba.

Sounds good.  Looks like we are getting some more people onboard for riding around Brisbane! :)

We are planning for some night rides next week, so I'll message everyone that has been in contact so we can all catch up and ride together.

All the best,

Steve

Not fair LOL

Ah, we should definitely start another thread for getting the riders together in the Melbourne & Surrounding areas!

I know there is a bunch of riders that are keen to get together, so I'll reach out to all our contacts and let them know.

Went for a ride with the Evolve Brisbane/GC esk8 group on Friday night and they're all pretty friendly, and keen to ride with anyone regardless of evolve esk8/custom esk8/euc. They run pretty regular rides so may be worth a look for anyone else wanting to go group riding.

Great to hear you caught up with the ESK8 group and enjoyed your ride!

I unfortunately twisted my ankle (carrying a heavy awkward load down some stairs), so had to avoid too much riding late December/Early Jan.  But my ankle is mostly recovered now, so I'm keen to get back out there and join others on more rides.

Oof, glad to hear you're recovering! I'm sure we can rustle together some people for a group ride soon, the local e-scooter group is planning a 36km 'crossing of 8 bridges' ride for the day after Australia Day.

Hey Brisbane riders!

Just a headsup, there's a group scooter ride on Monday morning, 36km long from Indooroopilly to Grill'd Ascot. I'll be doing part of it but not all since I don't have a beefy enough wheel yet.

Hi guys,

Have any of you ever had trouble with fines etc riding in Brisbane?  I'm looking to buy an EUC for commuting but I have a fear that it would be hard to get around without copping a few fines. Especially if you're only allowed to ride on the sidewalk. I also heard that you can't ride on the bike way. Is anyone able to shed some light on this? Any info is appreciated.

Cheers,

Jackson

Queensland is currently the most PMD friendly state in Australia, which is pretty great. TMR's rules for statewide support is at https://www.qld.gov.au/transport/safety/rules/wheeled-devices/personal-mobility-devices and for BCC they have guides on local rules at https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/things-to-see-and-do/outdoor-activities/cycling-in-brisbane/cycling-rules-signs-and-safety-tips

The TL:DR of it is though:

  • Can ride on footpaths
  • Can ride on local roads (no centre line, not greater than 50 km/h roads)
  • Can ride on Bike Paths
  • Can't (legally) go over 25km/h
  • Can't ride on roadside Bike Lanes
  • Can't ride in areas where Bikes/PMDs are expressly banned by signs. Right now this includes Queen Street Mall, Brunswick Street Mall, Chinatown and the pedestrian section on Albert St between Elizabeth and Mary streets.

There's currently a review being held for the Australian Road Rules which will enshrine most of this, but they would be locking down PMDs to everything except being allowed on Bike Lanes and would force a 25km/h max speed limit and 10km/h around pedestrian limit.

Count me in for group rides.  I try to go everyday but have just moved house so things are a bit crazy.

Scooter Squad have a Yeronga loop on this Saturday if you're available. I don't quite have enough range on my S2 but will be attending - https://www.facebook.com/events/3231296186900873/

I cruise at around 18kph (slower on crappy surface) so that's probably too slow for those guys and 25km distance will be close to my limit on the V8.  Do you know the route they are taking?

Things have been pretty hectic and haywire the past couple of months. Sorry I didn't even notice your messages here!

We have got more and more euc riders joining the ranks in Brisbane area so we should definitely start posting to coordinate more rides together.

Hope to catch up with you soon,

Steve
