KingSong riding modes

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm just wondering if that's only me, or just my wheel. I'm about riding modes, KingSong has 3, "learners", "riding" and "expert". Of course I started with learners, later on I'd change to "riding", have being riding for awhile, then, yesterday, I decided to try "expert", well, besides speed restriction, I didn't feel any difference between riding mods, no changes in riding dynamics at all, I'm just wondering, if that's a normal behavior for all KinSong wheel or it's just mine?

Now after 800 km I notice a huge difference in the settings.

With 2 IPS wheels and 2 Gotway wheels, I always used the hardest setting. So when my 18XL arrived, I automatically chose the hardest setting. After a week I had to admit it was too hard for me. I struggled to lean enough to move the wheel, especially going uphill. I decided to try the medium setting, and it was perfect for me.

looks like I was expecting something else, I thought that "softer" and "harder" means acceleration and braking will be more dynamic in "expert" mode, makes sense why I didn't feel difference in riding dynamics, allthough I don't understand why expert riders should push harder on pedals, makes no sense

This thread caused me to revisit my choice of hardness setting on my KS18XL. When my 18XL first arrived, I selected the hardest setting ("experient" mode). In this mode I found it very difficult to lean sufficiently to move the wheel, especially going uphill. This was after being very happy with the hardest setting on my Gotway MSuper V2. I decided to try the medium setting ("riding" mode). It seemed to make riding the wheel much easier, and it was still pretty firm. The question by @Gundars Balodis caused me to wonder what would I think of "experient" mode now that I've been riding the wheel for a while. So today I switched to "experient" mode and rode for about an hour. To my surprise, I had no trouble riding in this mode. Therefore I believe my initial difficulties in "experient" mode were actually caused much more by the unfamiliar riding dynamics of the wheel than the particular hardness setting. For some reason using a softer setting helped me become accustomed to the 18XL. Unlike @Tadas I did not find the difference between settings to be "huge," but definitely the difference is noticeable. I am keeping my 18XL set on "experient" (hardest) mode.
