Kevin Johnson
Hi folks, looking to purchase my first wheel and came across some gotway mcm5's on aliexpress for $450. Seemed too good to be true so upon further research I determined that these are coming with a 170wh battery. Otherwise is this real? And could it be an otherwise great wheel to tool around on and learn on with just a very limited range? Does the smaller battery effect performance as well or just range? Thanks! https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33028433646.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000014.1.622f704erI7VDy&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.13338.132444.000000000000000&scm_id=1007.13338.132444.000000000000000&scm-url=1007.13338.132444.000000000000000&pvid=43d9a58a-9903-47ff-aa3b-fb449bd62e0c
esaj
The price's not that bad, but in my opinion, not worth it. If it's indeed 170Wh battery, that's a single pack, not only very limited range, but the performance will be a far cry from the "actual" thing. The power hungry motor will eat the battery up really fast, if you want to go cheap, look for a cheap generic for practice (and I mean cheap, like 100€ or maybe someone will give one away for free). Those things (like old Airwheels and such) are worth next to nothing these days. There is an option to buy the wheel with small battery and upgrade later, but you're probably looking into putting at least another 400-500€ to get a decent after-market battery for that, shipping lithium batteries is expensive, and in case of big battery-wheels, the battery is the most expensive part of the entire wheel. Popular Post meepmeepmayer
Be careful, there's the 84V MCM5 everyone loves and there is a 67.2V MCM5 which nothing much is known about here. It surely isn't bad, but it's not the 84V. From earlier wheels, we know the 67.2V will feel ~20% weaker than the 84V. Not at catastrophe, but a notable difference. 170Wh matches the 67.2V. 16s1p 2900mAh. But that battery is uselessly small either way. That's just unsafe, easily overleaned. Buy a real MCM5 for like $900 or something else My opinion. It's tempting, but I wouldn't do it. In the end, you just spent money on something you won't be very happy with. For the money, you might find a nice used 14D e.g. Or you just spend more. 1
Kevin Johnson
ok, im seeing the "real" mcm5's with the 800wh batteries for about $1100, and the teslas for only $100 more. I'll probably just save up for one of those...

The 67V version will always be slower than the 84V one. I don’t have any actual numbers to give you though.

The speed won't change, just the 3rd alarm (80% alarm) will come later, as he is/should be battery voltage dependend. 15 minutes ago, mrelwood said: The 67V version will always be slower than the 84V one.
