Nikola or Nikola Plus?

Recommended Posts

If waiting time and the additional cost wasn't an issue would you go for the Nikola Plus over the Nikola?  Since it's only a difference in the battery would the additional weight of the battery make the plus perform differently from the Nikola?

Yeah, we're on the Gotway order queue bandwagon already.

I’ll add to my 100v MSX I got from you.  I’ll take a Nikola plus and the new monster once you have it.  That will complete my collection.

Any ideas when you will be getting these in?

23 kg, according to manufacturer rounded number.. its not going to be exactly that in person, but regardless same for all models 1600wh+

Ok, sounds like waiting is the way to go.  I didn't realize it also had a higher top end speed.

just my opinion but i think the 2100 wh is the smarter choice, i mean how often are you gonna be cruising around 60 kmph+.. the 50 kph listed on the spec for the original is a very conservative number, same spec as they list for the MSX but we all know its capable of quite a bit better than that but of course as with anything depends on your weight and certain conditions, perhaps you do travel at that speed on a regular basis how could i know xD for me the extra 250 wh for a cheaper price are way better than a slightly higher top end speed

personally i think youd be a fool not to wait now.. but what are you waiting for, they are already for sale.. if you are waiting for ewheels they may or may not get them some time in the future, but i would ask first because summer will absolutely be over by that time :P and ps, they all have the same weight... 84v 1600/2100 wh, 100v 1845 wh all the same

Now I'm really confused.... I'm a fool if I don't wait, but I should go for the Nikola over the Plus???

im just saying the regular nikola (i refer to 84 volt version as the standard version) 2100 wh i personally think is a better choice than the 100v 1845 wh simply because in 99% of all situations for most people the 84V would be more than good enough... at those speeds you have waaaay less control and the wind resistance is huge, the battery will also go down a hell of a lot faster.. its fun for short bursts but dont expect to be riding around at that speed on a regular basis, plus its cheaper and 250 wh more battery.. of course everyone is different and perhaps that top end speed is very important to you, idk.. i meant it would be unwise to throw that much money down on the original 1600 wh version with both of these new versions available simply because you dont want to wait a little while longer.. again, personal opinion i could of course care less what anyone else does xD

I'm riding the ACM2 with 2000w & 1600wh, so maybe no Nikola yet, but really want to know if EWheels will getting the Monster3 in and when?  I will take one of that.

Ooooh, that was my confusion, I didn't realize there were 3 versions of the Nikola.  Was thinking they just had the Nikola and Nikola Plus.  There is the Nikola that eWheels sells, The "uprgraded Nikola" that you have to get from China and then the Nikola Plus that you have to get from China too.

there are a lot more than 3 actually.. generally the less than 1600 wh models are sold only in europe though.. yup, the original nikola in north america and china is the 1600 wh version.. you could purchase a lesser wh version of the nikola in europe, you could also purchase a no battery model for upgrade with your existing battery from another euc from china.. just released are the new larger battery capacity version 2100 wh, literally identical in every way save for a higher capacity battery, and the "plus" which just has 100V electronics, and a different battery configuration, exact same shell besides swapping out the white strip on the shell for the same strip with a carbon fibre finish.. i refer to the 2100 wh 84v white and black, and the 1845 wh 100v carbon fibre as the new ones seeing as they came out at the same time.. when i say waiting i just mean waiting for it to arrive from china, obviously shipping would be much longer than locally, or waiting for ewheels to get stock.. either way youre waiting longer than if you were to purchase the original 1600 wh north american version

I think 100v is always safer, because you have more room before a cut out.  If you are traveling at sag 30 mph it will have a lot more room left.  Range is already enough.

it all comes down to your personal use scenario like i said, it may be the most important factor for some people speed.. but i could say the same about the larger battery.. if you have more battery then you have a safer margin for a cut out not just for speed for the long run, but also in a spike like if you were going uphill or hit some road imperfections at speed.. unless you are a speed demon and are very careful about monitoring your battery i would say additional battery is usually safer than a higher voltage.. specific use though going over 50 kph on a battery with a good charge yes its safer on 100v no doubt, i just dont see it as being a situation that would be a normal use scenario for anyone on anything but the monster on open road lol, its not a normal cruising speed on a 17" tire for most people.

if you dont normally go on really long rides, and like speed.. yes the 100v version is a better choice if youre willing to spend the extra.. if you like long comfortable rides and dont often push the envelope on speed, i would say the 2100 wh 84v is the best.. for most people 1600 wh is more than enough, both of these are for the extremists, for me i like to go on as long rides as possible and always have battery reserve, i will never be going above 50 except maybe once in a blue moon if it was an emergency, its just not a fun ride to me.. everyone is different though just stating thats my personal opinion

Good points here about 17” tire.  I think ideally I’d have the new 100v monster and the 84v Nikola with the 2000 wh pack.

yea at those speeds object avoidance is pretty much nill unless you spot it from 100 feet away xD pretty much all you can do is brace yourself, so you better pray that the tire can take it haha, you have to remember that the MSX tire is like 19.5 inches lol, at that size you have a much better chance than the at best 17.5 nikola tire.. for me i wouldnt feel comfortable at those speeds unless im geared up like iron man or on a monster

@houseofjob if only you had waited just a little longer to get a Monster again !

meh, this 100V Monster is really only to tide me over to the major overhaul on whatever they call their next 22"+ wheel.

With a friend and directly from Gotway, It took a long time.. I was promised  by Gotway 7 days April 15th.. then they I assume got nervous because the 84v was not really distributed. So it took seven weeks.

* just as a side not here, I will ALWAYS buy from Jason, it’s just that he wasn’t carrying it yet.

Ive been ultra distracted lately, so I have yet to really let this wheel run.

Just painted the pedals.

Nice, your wheel is getting better and better looking every time you post a pic! I'm with you about Jason. He gets them as quick as a bulk dealer can get them, and his knowledge and customer service is awesome. the 2 wheels I bought from him directly. He even helped me fix the MTen3 which was bought 2nd hand from someone who bought from him.

But I'm tempted to buy from an Alibaba dealer only because they have the 100V Nikola I want and I really want to ride this summer. I blame @Marty Backe for teasing me with all his 1600+ WattHour parties that I can't attend.

So if you bought way back in mid-April, you knew of the existence of the 100V version way back then???

We know the Gotway algorithm, even the "Lets release a better wheel before early birds get theirs"
