Jdestef
This weekend I spent some time on a project I had been thinking about for awhile. The possibility of using marine vinyl to cover the stock gray padding. I have a set of pads that were used during my "learning" phase which are totally ripped up and torn, etc. However, they would still make for a good base if I could cover the pad in vinyl somehow. So, without further ado, here is the result of pad #1. I'm not 100% happy with the corners (vinyl folded/tucked vs trimmed and sewn, but the depth of the pad hides a lot of the crease. Gorilla glue was used to hold the vinyl in place. No glue goes on the gray padding itself, it all wraps around and is attached to the inner side of the pad casing. One more pic of the upper edge, purposely over-exposed so you can see the crease. The vinyl feels very firm and stable. Time will tell if it holds up.I'm going to do another pad and tweak my template a bit. If that one turns out ok, I'll post a copy of the template so others can use.
