MetricUSA
50, But cost of eu is not so much of issue when compared to alternative means.... means to an expensive cost of car ownership... eu/bike by far wins....I bought my house cause I didn't own a car... castShadow
You can buy one for $300If you want to "fly" (as some ice skaters are seen) but on pavement, you can ride a single wheel (you can't ride as fast though on the $300 version but you can still glide and swoop freely). It's not a toy, it's a gateway to something aspirational. It's a window to a dream. Why would you give it up?
Phil Howell
Well I'm 60 I bought my Airwheel Q3 for my birthday, I love the Segway but could not justify nearly $9000 AU to buy one when they are banned in public spaces here in NSW, But $650AU for the EUC on a impulse , why not. Growing old is compulsory, Growing up is not. You don't stop doing thing because you get old , you get old when you stop doing things. Being on my Q3 means I can join in with my Grandkids when I take them camping, they ride their bikes or scooters and I follow on my Airwheel. And I get to see the joy on their faces as I teach them to ride it. My grandson had it at school the other day for "show and tell" He is 6 and in what we call Kindergarten (his first year at school) I explained to the whole group of five classes what it was and showed them how to ride it before calling him up and holding his hands while he rode it around the basketball court. He was king of the kids all day :-)
JFP9
At 53, I saw this as another challenge. I have a decent disposable income but more than that, I am more of a '"bleeding edge" person participating rather than sitting quietly on the sidelines and watch the world pass me by. I plan to keep moving, growing and experiencing new things as long as my body will let me. Cheers, Jim

ninebot one p
47 years old. As you can see from my signature I have become obsessed. Have only been riding since Oct 16, 2015 and I already 2 EUC's & 4 on Order. I have always followed my hobbies. My mane source of income is my retail gun store. Shooting was one of the many hobbies I got enthralled with. Yes I think disposable income is the unexciting answer as to why we are so old and that 50 is the new 30 with health and medical advances. We are living longer and healthier.

MarkoMarjamaa
On 3.10.2015 klo, Cloud said: I am around 40, and as i was riding the other day, a 20 year old stopped and started asking questions about the wheel. He then asked me if i ride it because old people want to feel young again. I tried to say that i am just enjoying it but he knew better than that. He insisted this is the reason that we( old people:) want to do something like that. Eventually i stopped coming up with other reasons why and had to accept his logic:) I'm around 40 also, and do kitesurfing, kayaking, rollerblading and if a 20 year old comes with that kind of bullshit I'll politely say to f*ck off. Oldest kitesurfers are 75 yo and that's my goal. My Airwheel was 500e. that's about half of what a kite costs. I'm just waiting the rest of the world realize how easy this is. It's not my fault it takes so much time for them.
Jurgen
50, wife 40, kid 7 (next week).Teens do tend to get put off once their hear what the EUC costs. I was looking for an alterative eco-friendly transport for distance up to 10Km (that I can easily combine with PT or car), and found a sense of freedom and personal expression together with better physical health. Got a nice compliment from an old lady at the school gate the other day, she told me I was "a very sportive grand dad" My dauhter loves the EUC, when we're together in the street (she riding her stepping bike) she starts shouting at people while pointing at me "this is MY dad !!!". johrhoj
I am over 50, but only just. I do not know why other people start riding euc's. When i understood that riding a euc is as easy as riding a bike, i just wanted one immediately. After two months of riding (commuting) i still enjoy the experience. I guess some people buy an electric bicycle instead, which is typical for the age of 50+ (only less adventurous).
Roue Libre
I'm 32 And I thought the people were much younger on this forum ! Actually it's amazing that people over 60 don't have issues using EUC !
Jurgen
of the 39 posts here are 3 below 30, some have not disclosed their age but in that case ahem.... It's a small sample, quite biased for selection (participant to the forum, replying to the thread), but it's possible that a statiscally significant larger number of riders is over 30, and that the mean age is probably closer to 40. This is quite unusual for an inovative technology, I don't think this can be explained solely by the 'positive effect' of high pricing because the cheaper wheels are in the iPhone price bracket (although you can spend your money only once), especially taking into account the 'negative factors' like risk of falls (we tend to get more risk averse with age) and the fact that you need good balance and reflexes (which usually don't improve with age). By the way, my wife said 'ok, if that's what you want' while shaking her head from left to right... A sociological study on the adoption of EUC in the different age groups, anybody? Keith
I'm 60 and agree completely with Phil Howell above. Got my KingSong 14C three weeks ago from Jason McNeil and spent as much time as seemingly constant rain has allowed practicing in the park. I do wish the ground wasn't so wet so I could try and practice turning and backwards on (softer) grass. I suspect my limits (I.e. point I get scared!) are a lot lower than when I was younger. Longest run I've done is 3 miles and highest speed, according to my GPS jogging watch, is 14MPH (22.5kph). So far I've had no adverse reaction from pedestrians in Surrey. I did get "Wow! Look at that old guy on a Segway." From a group of schoolboys, made me chuckle! As for it being lazy, I'm discovering muscles I haven't used before and I'm using it on journeys I would have previously done by car. Next challenge, paragliding, if I ever find a school that can be bothered to teach me!
Paulandjacquelyn
I think we'd find that it's more a personality trait in common with us. Just because younger can't afford does not negate interest in it. I bet we were the first in many things in our lives . I bought my first electronic toy called Merlin in late 70's, atari 2600 first year released, raced bmx, played in rock/metal bands, skateboarded, skated, ski, unicycle, pogostick, and a member of mensa. Here i am....just under 50 and still out to learn new things......it's what I've done my whole life and will continue to if it sparks my interest
Pagsy
I have been 26 for more than 10 years ! sometime I look at myself on my EUCs and I'm like "I really look like a teenager .... and you know what ? I love it !" I will do whatever activity I want as long as my body will allow me ! You get old when you stop doing things.

micro
In July two gentle guys pushed my car into a public park and, as they didn't manage to start it, they burnt it. It was a good moment as I felt I was already by far too old for this kind of car. So I was looking for another vehicle. I remembered that in 1989 I was capable to keep balance on a unicycle for a while. I think I was 42 then. Consequently I pulled my old unicycle out of my rubbish collection and tried it. I found myself sitting on my ass and had some painful nights after. My motorized thing came in August, and I was rolling back and forth in my little work shop at least four times per day. After two weeks, I tried it outside.
