Joker10
Today I noticed my fan seemed to be noisy. I have never been able to hear it before. Anyone else have this happen?
Electric Dexterity
How loud is it? For my 18XL if the fan is running and I try to listen very closely I can hear it. I would not call it noisy though. I think it sounds similar to a fan in a PC but very soft. I definitely can’t hear it when riding.
meepmeepmayer
With PC case fans (same as in the 18L, just bigger), that usually happens when some cable (usually one of the fan's own power cables) gets slightly in the way of the fan blades. The fan still works, but is louder. You might check if that's the case. Or you just have some other thing slightly in the way of the fan. Joker10
I can’t hear it when I am riding but it’s loud enough while it’s sitting there idling that I am going to have to figure out how to open it up and see why it’s suddenly increased. I’ll try to make a video of it before it disassemble it. To me it sounds like what meepmeepmayer described. Something slightly in the path of the blade. meepmeepmayer
Here's a disassembly video. I think you only have to remove the side panels so you can get to the screws to open the top board panel. Should be no big operation.
Joker10
Thanks meepmeepmayer. It looks real easy, don’t know how they took the trolley handle off but I should be able to figure it out.
Joker10
Well it didn’t seem to be as loud today, sounded like a fan should. so I am going to hold off opening it up. Going to monitor it.
