King Song's responsiveness to feature requests... And wishlist

In my relatively short experience with EUCs, one of the (many) reasons why I chose King Song over other brands is I've heard from several users ( @Jason McNeil @KaleOsaurusRex come to mind) is how King Song listens to their input. And actually implements them! That to me is a company I want to support because they actually care about what we want.

That said, one feature that seems to be missing and would beneficial is:

-User Flashable / Upgradeable firmware

I know a few guys here (Gimlet, Cloud, Jeffrey Will Scott etc.) have some of the first versions of the unit and are stuck with some of their early shortcomings (voltage level cutoff and high speed wobble). Kind of a letdown that these new features aren't available to them. If KS could incorporate user upgradeable firmware, that would go a long way towards making early adopters hurt a little less :)

Granted not every feature can be upgraded via firmware (like the Apple BT support, etc.) But small things like adjustments to riding code, voltage tolerance etc. would be very welcome.

As for additional features, I'd love to see:

-Option for larger pedals

-A more modular parts swap friendly design: swap out pedals, replace damaged housing, etc. (one of the best things Ninebot has going for them, in addition to field upgradeable firmware)

-Larger battery in the 18" because I'm sure there's room ;)

Other than these, I think the KS 14 is nearly perfect. And looking forward to seeing the 16" version.

Any other features come to mind? Since we know they're listening ...

I don't know if I'm on topic here, but do you know if the latest batch of KS 800w has an iOS app/support yet? My KS 800 should be here tomorrow, and I am starting to look around now on this forum to find some answers I'll be needing, now that the wait is over. Thanks.

I could not find the app.  Please post screenshot or a link of some type.  Cale, any help here?

Casey, type it all as one word... kingsong and it comes up. It doesn't come up as 2 words- king song.

It says minimum of iOS 7 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, but no mention of minimum hardware versions (my phone is a 6Plus for reference).

Thanks, House- got it by typing kingsong as one word instead of two words- king song.

So, it looks like this app just was updated today, 9/29/15. It seems that you can pretty much set the speed, beep and tilt-back freely if you sign an exemption agreement. I bet that reads something like "If you get killed bypassing our suggested limits, that's on you!" Just putting a Philly kind of slant on the probable wording.

what are the range/ limits of the max speed adjustments and the beeps? Can you set the beeps at pretty much any speed? Whats the max tilt back speed? Thanks!

If it helps, this is what's in the Help page under "Setting for Speed Limited" in the app (also peculiar that the speedometer goes up to 60 km/h, can we sign that exemption to reach 60 then?):

Yeah, kind of hard with some language barrier going on, but when I get mine, I am going to experiment a little. I would like the beeper totally off, but maybe not the tieback at 1st. Once I hit an expert type level of riding, I would set the tilt back at a fairly high speed. I am so new I would have to experiment a lot 1st. Once the wheel shows up tomorrow, I get a better idea of how it works, plus learn from you guys as well. I am curious what the exemption is- THAT should be awesome in a way, if it is what I think it is.

Well, I took a 1/2 day off of work to be home when FedEx arrives, and the gyro-wheel came 10 minutes after I got home. I have not even opened the package yet and here I am posting to you guys 1st. You guys are my "homies", so I came here 1st. Ok- see ya, gonna go open up the package and see if it's all in one piece and all that.  :-)

Congrats! Make sure to see John's post here about holding off on pairing the iOS app first. Or you might end up riding a speed-gimped wheel until October 8th ;) Although TBH if this is your first wheel, that's probably for the best until you get your "wheel-legs"
