Slartibartfast
With Gotways Monster now being several years old there has been much speculation that an upgrade is in order. While I'm aware Monsters are now being shipped with what appears to be the MSX main board I am wanting to know if there is any possibility of the Monster itself being revamped. In particular, given I'm a rather sizable lad (to put it politely), I am concerned about the integrity of the Monsters shell especially given my pension for sitting down 😉. The other serious shortcoming of the current Monster is it's lack of a trolley handle! (I mean come on Gotway; you even lift?) As it is I am planing a European holiday this summer for which I am keen to have a long range wheel. At present I am leaning toward the Monster but given my ongoing battle with Green Fashion in regard to having my MSX repaired Kingsong's 18XL is becoming a serious contender. I just want to know if there's any possibility of a redesign in the works as there's no doubt a Monster with a sturdier shell and collapsible handle would most definitely win my vote:
meepmeepmayer
I wouldn't know anthing, but I pretty much only read this forum. I believe the new board in all Monsters is it. There were rumors that Gotway was consolidating their range a bit, maybe we'll see less specialty models like the mten3 in the future. The Monster might also be one. On the other hand, a new better Monster would sell a lot and have no competition, so I don't understand why they don't do it. In short, I wouldn't expect a new Monster soon (or maybe ever?). Just my guess. - Sorry to hear about your wheel troubles. Your MSX still isn't working? What's so hard about sending you a new motor and board? How can this draw out that long? Your first and only wheel, right?

It's been 2+ years since it was released and Gotway knows there are mechanical issues to be resolved. I'm patiently waiting.

Hatchet
It would be interesting to see Gotway embrace the "big long distance" wheel niche of the Monster and design it from the ground up with that in mind, rather than just a wheel with 'the biggest tire.' Accept and market it as such; a large, heavy SUV-type ride that is like nothing else for that long ride. Powerful, fast cruising speed, long distance, massive comfortable pedals, not your 'going to the store' wheel. Improvements such as a sturdier shell, reinforced screw settings, maybe some hardened rubber on the edges etc to recognize and accept it's very heavy and it will get dropped onto its side now and then. Silent motor, a comfortable ergonomic seat that has been designed and thought-out to set a new standard, large, high pedals, a discrete but functional trolley for the times it's handy, speakers, etc. I bet there would be room for Gotway to capture the giant-class of wheel market if they wanted. Possibly a 2500w motor, but I think 2k with 2400wh battery is sufficient if they can make it work. The "Roadster"
who_the
Aesthetics are cool, but all I want from the next Monster is pedal assemblies/hangers/shims that don't fail after just a couple thousand miles or sooner. Oh, and a handle of some sort.
meepmeepmayer
Let's hope I'm wrong and there's a new Monster soon then What was the duration between the MCM4 and MCM5 releases? That's the kind of thing I expect for "secondary" (not 16'' or 18'') wheels, and for some reason, Gotway don't realize the Monster can be a high margin top seller. ED209
Not sure if the design will be new, but I have been told by a seller on Ali express that a Black version will be released soon.

The Monsters that were shipped out late last week were labelled Monster 2, with the new Controller. Linnea has repeated said there are no new Monster projects in the works, but there is also the precedent that she also didn't bother to advise of the updates on the Tesla even while our order was under production
erk1024
Just curious, how WIDE is the Monster wheel? I can't seem to find it in the specs anywhere. All the listings mention the diameter, but not the width. Maybe it's 22" but only one inch wide, like a bike tire! Who can say?

I think @Sketch was maybe thinking of the Z10? (which is 4.1-inches). The Monster tire is 2.75-inches wide.

I was really hoping a reworked Monster was in the works. A model where the shell doesn't break when the wheel falls over and the pedal hangers stay tight like KingSong somehow manages. 21 minutes ago, Sketch said: My mistake. After months of harassment they did finally send another board but unsurprisingly this didn't fix the problem and they wanted me to return the board for assessment before they would consider sending a replacement motor. They've now had the board back for a couple of months but are still being extremely poor with communication. The last message I sent them was: Quote Come on mate, what's going on? You said this would only take a week and it's now been over a month and a half and you still haven't told me what's going on. This is infuriating! And the response I got was: Quote Gotway feels going to close down I am also very angry, I ordered the accessories, sent a month I have already married them and let them solve your problem as soon as possible. Who knows what that even means, but it does not sound good. 22 hours ago, meepmeepmayer said: Your first and only wheel, right? As it is the MSX is actually my second wheel. The first I got was a KS16s which I absolutely loved (and still do) but it doesn't quite have the range to get me to town and back again so I ordered the MSX in order to comfortably make it home on a single charge. The MSX was fantastic for the month or two that it worked but has now been out of action since November (ie. all of summer) and I am extremely disappointed about how it has all ended up :grumble: :grumble:

No real performance improvements, just larger pedals (i suppose this could be a performance improvement since you can torque the wheel more easily), lift switch, bluetooth speakers, black shell and a snazzy Monster LED logo.
