gon2fast
I have a InMotion V10 that I purchased in July of 2018. Long story short, I am not able to get 5 full bars when charging. The fifth bar slowly flickers as if it is still charging, but the light on the charger is green signifying that the battery is at capacity and no longer charging. I still need to apply my volt meter to the charger, but I can truthfully state that I am getting around 10 miles per charge riding 18mph or slower. I get more miles per charge on my G3 at this point in time. Something does not seem right.
gon2fast
One more detail. When I take the wheel off of the charger and power it up I do display 5 bars of battery life (100% charge). I get roughly a quarter mile before it drops to 4 bars. Once the unit is at 4 bars the power is consumed as expected.
Mono
Probably the charger doesn't deliver the full 84V anymore. It's a known issue (one of mine is at 82V-or-so), see also 2
gon2fast
I got an ample 5 bar charge by draining the battery as far as I could. My IOS app got corrupted which led to it being deleted from my phone so I am not sure what percentage the battery was at. The next charge was back to 4/5. Drained it down to 2 bars earlier and it is back on the charger. I am going take it out again in a bit and see if I can drain it a bit more then let it sit on the charger all night and see what happens tomorrow morning. At this point in time I assume that the issue is incorrect battery conditioning (every 30 day full drain).
Chriull
8 hours ago, gon2fast said: At this point in time I assume that the issue is incorrect battery conditioning (every 30 day full drain). With LiIon cells there is no such thing as "conditioning"... Either your charger does not deliver enough voltage or some of your battery cells are weak/aged/dead. Weak/aged cells are the first to be fully loaded and stop the charging process (if the reach the max cell threshold voltage) and the first to be discharged while riding. They limit the whole pack and get the most "stress", too. So they degrade even "stronger/faster". So test your charger - if he is ok you should get prepared to get new batteries. Or maybe you can find a battery/e-bike/etc shop who can professionaly exchange some cells of the pack? Inbetween don't charge ypur wheel unattended (or just at some place were its safe) and ride a bit more "relaxed" - chances for overlean increase with weak cells.
Chriull
@gon2fast... and there could be a third reason as this topic just "popped up" again:
gon2fast
Thank you for for the link Chriull. Frankly speaking, not sure if I am going to pursue this since I plan on upgrading in July...
UniVehje
It looks like this battery issue is just a bug in the control board reading the battery level wrong. I got answer today from Inmotion service. It does not affect the battery itself, just the reading. So it really is full but doesn’t show it. There is a fix but that requires a hardware to be shipped to you and they are out of stock right now.

Thank you for the information UniVehje and Chriull!

If you could put a voltmeter between charger and wheel, you could check the voltage of the battery.
gon2fast
I found an old Iphone with a functional load of the InMotion application and after syncing it to my V10 it was able to take on a full charge. This work around has been successful for 2/2 charges. I will continue testing and report back.
gon2fast
Seems like my issue is with usage. During the winter months I primarily relied on my G3 to commute in poor weather while my V10 sat and suffered charging issues with minimal usage. Now that summer weather has set in I only ride my V10 which charges to 5 bars without issue now. The G3 is flickering at 4/5 now that I am not riding it (I assume). Keeping the battery at a high charge value for longer times will lead to unnecessary degradation. The recommended charge status while not using the battery is 40%. Everything below 70% is probably still pretty OK.

I contacted inmotion and they told me that the tools to fix the issue are out of stock and they probably won't get them in the future. gon2fast
The issue is resolved with my V10, but not via InMotion support. I was not able to do the flash drive fix (vendor said the drives are all checked out). The only thing that happened out of the norm around the time of resolution was that I connected to app after several months to mess with my side lights.
gon2fast
I received the flash drive today. I have not had any luck getting the USB dongle to sync with the wheel. Will try again later tonight...
