Popular Post Gustesta
Got back from a new ride. I'm 200 pounds, 6'2. The 16x can cruise at 30 mph with no problem whatsoever. App even shows there's a lot of power left. So, I guess this wheel could easily get to 35mph if it wasn't software locked. Best wheel I've ever had despite the tire (which is not really bad). Also, zero wobbling while riding (even at 31mph). Edited August 18, 2019 by Gustesta 4

So many posting opinions and asking questions to get the slightest reason to bail their preorder or why not to buy this wheel. Now the mantra is to change tyre, and people don't even get the chance to familiarizing with their new wheel. To me it looks more and more look like people expected something and not geting it because they didn't think/research what this could become. So we now have a baby Z10 that causes this polarized love vs hate opinions for whatever the reason. @Unventor I'm going to respectfully disagree and suggest that maybe you are also selling them short. In the absence of King Song updates (it's been basically a month since I heard about the new firmware) and against the backdrop of the problems, people are trying to fix what they perceive wrong with an otherwise great design on an expensive wheel (wobbles). Tires and their design do make a hell of a difference in ride, no disputing that. As for people bailing on the orders, pretty much the same comment, why take an order for a two thousand dollar wheel that isn't working as designed rather than waiting to see if updates to the hardware are in the pipeline or going with an alternative which lacks. I don't see this as a Z10 polarizing discussion - the Z10 ride was baked in, you loved or hated it. It was a feature not a bug. I'm not sure anyone would call wobbles a feature. So really comparing it to riding style preference is the wrong way to go. 3 hours ago, Azze80 said: I agree with a lot of what you say but for example. I have some experience of the MSX, I believe that one of the reasons (main reason) that it does not vobble as much as the 16x(cause it does vobble), is that you have more control over it due to the locked position with the side pads hitting your legs. Put thicker side pads on the 16x and see what happens Don’t hate me now, lol. I won’t take away you guys superior experience here. Just thoughts. anyways, thanks @Mike Sacristan for a great time and testing your wheel! @Azze80 No problem man, a lot of riding is subjective. As for the padding, believe it or not of all the 10 or so wheels I've ridden for extended periods of time, the KS16x is the only EUC that required me to grip it with ankles or legs. All the others I ride standing on the peddles only and not touching the EUC if possible. I prefer this because it gives me greater turning authority thanks to the leverage on the peddles and clearance the EUC has in going left or right under me while I remain upright. Also because it transmits less road noise to my body - and since I ride at higher tire pressures, that means a more comfortable ride for me. So my desire is really no pads and no touching (unless I'm jumping). :-) 4

It completely removed the gyro effect of the wheel and no more wobbles. and man....this wheel became soooo nimble, like MCM5 on 2.125" tire. btw, I commute with KS14S and own a MSX, the 16X now feels like 15" nimbleness. So far it feels pretty stable too. I settled with 30~35 PSI, I usually go 40 PSI on 18 inch wheels but with this tire, it's too squirrelly at 40 PSI. Some people might love this tire and some people might not. I simply love the nimbleness of smaller wheels in general (and absolutely dislike the gyro effect on Z10) AND I LOVE THIS TIRE. https://www.amazon.com/COMBO-16x3-0-Electric-Scooters-Bikes/dp/B01D8VGG5A This is what you put on your 16X?

Jon Stern
I just got back from a 14 mile ride. I've got over 200 miles on this wheel now. I'm riding on a very low tire pressure (once I find my Longacre pressure gauge I'll find out what the pressure really is) and not getting any wobbles. But I don't like how soft the tire is. I can really feel it flexing under me. If I can get to the point of no wobbles and a decent tire pressure, this wheel will be absolutely amazing. I'm really enjoying it in its current form, but I know it's not good to ride on such a soft tire. I didn't want to have to switch the tire, but if that's what it takes I'm going to do it. I just need to find out how to get a CYT or CST here in the US.

The main downside of running low PSI, is accelerating tire wear (increased tire deflection). If you're going to swap out the tire prematurely anyway, I would just keep on enjoying it at that cushy low pressure.

Popular Post kangzy
Hi all, I have been reading this topic intently over the past few weeks. After reading so many negative comments and issues I have to admit I was very worried. I just got my 16x this week and had my first today. The build quality is very impressive. Frankly, I really don’t know what all the fuss is about regarding the tyre. I am a 152 lb rider based in the uk and I have my wheel pumped up to 30psi. It rides very well with minimal wobbles - even under braking. I feel like I have full control over the wheel. If anything the tyre feels to ‘squishy’. I ride all my wheels pretty aggressively and I personally really like the ‘gyro’ affect! With the right technique you can corner a lot quicker. I have attached the link to my first ride here so you can see how I corner. So far so good. I will hope to do a full comparison with my other wheels (Tesla v2, 18l and MSX) hopefully by next week. Tom D
Just received a note from Jason stating additional (second wave?) of 16Xs have cleared customs and will begin shipping Monday. So, hope this means that I should have wheel by end of week. Looking forward to assessing wheel for myself. The comments in this LONG thread seem to swing wide to both sides (too many issues vs. just fine). I suspect it really comes down to personal preference. While I understand the wheel will handle differently than a 14S or 16S, adaptability is critical. Remember folks, we're riding a semi-self balancing, one-wheeled machine. Don't know about you all, but I still consider this sorta groundbreaking. Oh, hope KS gets this damn FW issue, both the code and DLing/installation, resolved. As large as they are in the market, I would think they would dedicate the resources needed to clean up their FW side of the house.

Popular Post Mike Sacristan
Today I met up with @Azze80 for some skill practice. We practiced slow carving, twisting, backwards riding, some high speed riding and braking. His 16X was at 180km. We changed the tilt back to 50kmh and the alarm to 48kmh. My riding weight was 66kg. I took it up to 43kmh quickly and it tilted me back two degrees for less than a second. I took it up slowly to 45 and it did fine. I took it up to 47 quickly and it oscillated 3 times quickly. As soon as I felt the oscillation I backed off the speed. I took it up to 50 slowly and it did fine and I could hold 50 for a few seconds before I ran out of track. I also did some riding on asphalt and as my calves/legs/ankles don't touch the side pads when riding I felt that all potholes, bumps, cracks, etc were amplified. Sometimes I try to get my legs off the MSX pads and move my feet out but that is no easy task. On the 16X it's the opposite and becomes the default stance. Gripping the wheel slightly made it much easier to handle imperfections. I see this is a skill issue though and it can also be worked around by using 2cm pads per side.
