Sorry, ninebot owners..

So, i am a kingsong 14 rider and today i switched with a ninebot rider and rode about a mile or two on his ninebot. Here is my impression of ninebot after riding a kingsong,

Ninebot felt much less responsive and agile. It didnt seem to react to lean as fast and as aggressively as kingsong. Speed is obviously lower, and after some accelerating i experience a not so nice tiltback ( it wasnt too bad but compared to a much smother kingsongs tiltback it wasnt nice). I couldnt make tight turns as the footrests were dragging on the ground, as they are lower and maybe wider too? They looked a bit longer thn kingsongs and i have to say they were more comfortable. This is something kingsong should look into

Ninebot felt better suited for very calm riding and not as sporty and extreme as kingsong. It felt like if i leaned forward too fast the wheel may not catch up with my lean in time . I then decided to test my theory and started leaning rapidly while riding. And yes, when i leaned forward too aggressively, the wheel couldnt react in time and i fell off.

the bottom line is, i could never be satisfied riding a ninebot after riding a kingsong ( sorry) . At least not with my riding style. I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and i constantly push the limits. I like rapid accelerations, fast braking, curving around pedestrians at high speed, getting on and off ramps, off the sidewalk onto the street and back, and i constantly ride at the highest speed. For someone like me, riding a ninebot after kingsong is boring and unfulfilling. Granted one is 14" and the other is 16 but there is more to the difference than that,

Now, you probably want to know what the other guy thought switching from ninebot to kingsong? After the first minute he said that he prefers his ninebot , but i believe this was because he was used to ninebot and kingsong felt unnatural. After a few minutes, after seeing how much faster he can go now, and getting a bit used to kingsong he started really enjoying it and when asked which he prefers he was hesitating and coulnt answer. I could see he loved the agility and acceleration and was trying to do tricks on it. He did have one bad fall though accelerating fast on a hill, started wobbling and couldt control the unit.

i know ninebot owners will not agree with me, as ninebot is the "iphone" of the unicycles, but for someone like me, i could never transition into a ninebot after a kingsong. The fact that ithe wheel still holds after what ive put it through and the super aggressive riding style has gotta count for something.

i do like the Ninebot's padding and the footrests better though....

Do you notice the wobbling issues yourself?  KS seemed to have addressed something like that in the latest firmware but that would require getting a new board.

not really. I had some wobbling in the first few days of riding at higher speeds but I attribute this to me being new. When i started feeling more confident the wobbling disappeared. Sometimes when i hit a bump or a pot hole there is a little bit of vibration which i believe is to be expected.

yet everybody is trying to compare and justify their superior product to the "iphone" of EUCs.

But the iphone comparison is pretty spot on, the look appeals to the masses, the product is the most complete package on the market right now (competition isnt sleeping so this can change). BUT its nowhere close to the bleeding edge of the tech EUCs use, here the more nimble producers as you mention KS are more up to date, I agree.

While I do like to push the limits on my Android phone doing things with it an iPhone is never able to do, I simply dont feel the need to to so on my Bot, I just ride it from A to B comfy and in style.

So this feels to me like a Porsche driver asking a Rolls Royce Driver how fast their car is and the answer will always be: "Fast enough" B)

How can it be considered the iPhone of eucs?? Apple is known for great marketing an a weak product on comparison to competitors to bback it up. I had never heard of ninebot till I came on here, bought a Solowheel xtreme as I had held off on an original Solowheel,  of you google electric unicycle out come up more with Solowheel or Solowheel then other lesser heard brands, certainly those on the know know about ninebot but not the masses.

Remember that Google customizes search results based on your usage & search-history, when I google electric unicycle, the first results are electricunicycleonline.com, some youtube-video about "mobbo" (some generic), Airwheel official site, the forums, ebay... Same goes for advertisement on the side, IPS, dx, banggood...

Edit: First mention of Solowheel is in the 5th page of results for me.

So as i said, if the ninebot was like the iphone it would be top of all the search results, what i am again saying it is the opposite of the iPhone great product in every way but without the great marketing. The fact i went with the solowheel is purely down to seeing one about 3 years ago at heathrow airport when they where the only euc available, its not really relevant to the ninebot lack of marketing.

You have a point. Solowheel is goodlooking and really overprised when it comes down to the specifications. Slolowheel derserves to win the Apple comparison debate.

Solowheel is the Vertu in my Opinion when compared to a mobile phone. Superduper-overpriced for its specs and very niche in terms of GLOBAL sales (dont forget, there are other markets than the US which was/is heavily policed by Solowheel)

Ninebot got the iphone comparison because of the blackandwhite styling, for its smug Owners (^_^) and for its sales, I think they sell the most unicycles on a global scale compared to the other Brands.

Oh god.

I know you just meant it as a metaphor but can we have a rule of not infecting the forum with iOS/Android wars. It's so depressing and seems to divide and sort of poison people (I'm not overreacting) on tech forums.

why don't we just stick to the eucs and everyone maintain a golden silence about what handset they use ?

 yep that discussion always gets toxic very fast.

Hmm, so Ninebot, the banana or rather watermelon of the EUC wold? What fruit would the kingsong get to be? ^_^:)

Ha! I never thought this thread would go this way, just from me calling ninebot the " iphone". On the other hand its turning out to be a much friendlier discussion than what i feared. I was afraid it could turn into a nasty battle of the eucs! The people here are awesome!

just be careful man, just because i am still ok doesnt mean i am safe. Ive done crazy stuff in my life. I am a fossil hunter, i collect fossils, particularly dinosaur fossils and ive been exposed to a lot of risk, climbing mountains, jumping into creek beds onto sharp rocks, etc. carrying huge loads on my back while balancing on small surfaces, ive had a lot of injuries and broken a lot of bones in my body doing it. Ive come up with 3 words that can help one avoid getting hurt. Most importantly : Respect Your Risk. The day you start thinking you know better than to get hurt, the risk you are taking will get the best of you.

I want to apologize again to the Ninebot owners. This was not a very objective comparison of course. 14 inch vs 16. There is also different riding mides, different tire oressure, etc. every unicycle appeals to its own way of riding.

@Cloud This is still a valuable OP, because EUCs dont appeal to only one mindset of users. Some like it cheap, some like it light, some like it fast and others like it strong. :)

Its always what the rider needs, so there is no "one right EUnicycle" for all riders. I dont want to be able to do 360 jumps off a quarterpipe with my wheel, others dont want to carry a 14kg wheel up and down the multiple stairs of their home just for a 3km commute.

I respect that you tried the ninebot and found for yourself that its not made for your style of riding, thats still a lot better than just bashing every other brand other than the one you got for various dubious "reasons". :)

I want an ewheel that is cheap, light, fast, AND strong! :D

I know, I know -- you are saying that different people will prioritize these categories differently according to their own personal needs.  But wouldn't it be great if there was a wheel which does well in all these categories?  But it also needs to be rugged with a huge battery life and sexy-sexy too!

oh yeah, this was just a quick review from the prospective of a person favoring a certain riding style and also from someone who is trying ninebot for the first time for a mile or two, after riding a kingsong for a while. My impression may have been different if i tried kingsong after being used to Ninebot. This is by no means a consistent comparison between the two brands.

impossible. Not just because different people will prioritize different categories. But also because different people will have different opinion on what is "good" and what is "bad". Someone may think that responsiveness is good, but someone else will prefer a softer response, just like the responsiveness of your computer mouse, everyone adjusts it to what they like it to be. Someone will want a lighter wheel but someone else may want it to be a but more massive and stable. For example i rode with 2 other guys who have a kingsong like mine but 500w ( lighter) and smaller battery ( lighter). Id rather my wheel was lighter but they said they like my heavier wheel better because they think its mire stable.

if all the people in the world could agree on what is good and what is bad, we would have peace on earth.

I know all about adventure and have already broken over 13 broken bones- I lost count at 13, so I am used to it. Ever see that old move Evel Knievel? Sort of like that. But actually, I plan on being very safe around pedestrians/public... but on my, own out in the cool places I find/discover, I just have to push it to the limit- that's why I wanted this particular wheel.

I'm having a flashback to the early E-cig days.  When the talk was E-juice.  I learned that taste was subjective, and it was OK for me to like a flavor what someone else called Bad. If someone here says the a Brand of EUC is great, I will want to try it.  And if it doesn't measure up for me, that is OK.  I will keep looking trying, and Modding until I get what I consider mine.   Just as I did with my E-cigs.  I feel the journey, the learning is half the fun.

Cloud's right, I own/sell the Ninebot as well, the Ninebot's are simply not in the same class. Putting the two together is like talking about Learjets (Ninebot) & F16s (King Song), both will jet you around places, but only one of these has air superiority.
