KS16B firmware update not possible

Dear all,

I cannot do a firmware update of my KS16B wheel. I installed the latest Kingsong_Aligned.apk application from the Kingsong site, version 1.53 for android.
My wheel is on firmware v1.20. I know the latest firmware is 1.27. When I use the app to look for a firmware update, it only finds v0.00 and tells me that firmware update is impossible since I have a newer version. I also tried the iPhone application of the AppStore. Same result.
The analysis of the traffic of the android phone shows that the kingsong app effectively connects to the Chinese server (http://jc.cnaite.cn//mobile//index.php?).
The app even receives the firmware version info and the download address of the firmware file
                "bin_id": "21",
                "bin_name": "KS-16B",
                "bin_version": "127",
"bin_url": "http:\/\/jc.cnaite.cn\/mobile\/index.php?act=level_up&op=download&bin_id=21&t=1543348172",
But the app keeps telling me "New firmware version: V0.00"
All is ok on the server side. Typing the above address in a web browser triggers the download of a .bin file (I guess the firmware file). But then I don't know where to put it in the phone tree structure for the kingsong app to see it.

Has anyone else encountered the same issue?

To anyone who has done a firmware update using the Android app, could you locate the .bin file that the app downloaded? Thanks!

Might not help, but I'm sure I saw this problem before.  Scan the forum with google for the message ""New firmware version: V0.00"" or just the 0.00 part, maybe it will turn up something.

That's afair bad/no connection to the server - just keep on trying until it works :( My last update with the KS16S also took many trials.

Yes. With the computer it's easier to get the "update"...

Imo "nowhere". You'd have to make your own server locally and do some DNS rerouting...

... Just keep on trying - and it should work out

I've only been trying for two weeks ;-)

Two weeks id a long time.... I'd assume this wheel is not anymore under guarantee by a reseller?!

Edit: PS: Maybe @US69 knows a solution?

Hmh, my first tip would also have been to Keep on trying….

@xav2121  As you allready checked that the Servers are there, i can only suspect a app Problem. Can you give the IOS Version some more trys?

As Chriull said, sometimes it Needs some time to start the installing process.

Aaaah: And btw: Are you registered? Perhaps that is needed!

Thanks @US69. I am always logged in the Kingsong app. I did try the iOS kingsong-new app on my wife's iPhone. I get the exact same result "New firmware version: V0.00".

I bought the wheel new about a month ago, even though it was manufactured in July 2016 as the serial number indicates. The wheel is theoretically under warranty, but from the point of view of the reseller there is actually nothing wrong with it. The wheel works perfectly. It's just that I cannot update the firmware. That's not covered by warranty...

And, it's a true Kingsong KS16, not a KS wheel meant for the Chinese market.

The issue is mentioned on other posts in this forum but is so far unresolved @Flora Yuan, do you have some input?

The point of view of the reseller can be quite irrelevant 😎 it just could make it easier or harder...

Don't know what the law in your country says and firmware updates are a part of a working product if advertised?

... and of course if it is important to you...

Wish you good luck that further combinations of phones and persistance get you an update!

Success!!! Finally it just worked. @US69@Chriull you were right! I can't wait to try the new behavior. 1.20 > 1.27 is quite an upgrade. And I finally can control the LED.

I am still amazed that this update process is so unreliable. I've had to try twice a day for three weeks.
