Ziiten Posted November 20, 2018 Share Posted November 20, 2018 Those of you who liked Kathryn Bigelow's movie The Hurtlocker should really see the documentary The Deminer (dir. Hogir Hirori). It's a story about an Iraqi major Fakhir who dismantles mines and IEDs like he was doing any household chore. Unbelieveable. Just to add: a lot of the footage on this documentary is filmed by Fakhir himself when he is at work, and sometimes the bombs go off. Most of the bombs he digs up are kettle mines, but he also finds some crazy size road side IEDs - and the way he goes about digging them up sends chills down your spine. Also, before Isis left Mosul they rigged many of the ordinary houses with explosives, enough to level the building. His primary tool is a plain old wire cutter.
