I'm anticipating an MSX range of ~50-miles, mixed riding. This is at ~175-pounds. Yeah, 75 miles range is realistically just a marketing point for anyone who likes to remotely push their wheel or isn’t a super lightweight, but important for the manufacturer and dealers trying to attract newbie buyers I think. I will believe those inflated range numbers if and when @Marty Backegets his test model and does a range test under conditions I trust are representative But I'm not betting my money on it. 80km/50 miles is my guess, like all the other 1600Wh wheels. But who knows, maybe the 18L/18XL is magically more efficient. Marty will tell. Where does the extra weight come from? The battery adds 2kg/4lbs, what is the rest? What's going on there? Not in particular. They are a tad thinner than the V10F pedals (which, for my feet, always felt a little to wide), so I think these are the most ideal big pedals / pedal shape for minimal scraping. It would be interesting to take the popular battery configs and measure the range according to different weight classes then plot this on a weight vs. range chart. You are probably right - I assumed that it's production pedal because it was published on a official KS distributor online shop. My guess also -50 - 55 miles based on what others report they tend to achieve with mixed riding on similarly configured wheels. The XL is/will be heavier than the MSX. Maybe even the same rider with backpack or without. So I don't think any such small weight difference will show at all when you look at range. It's going to be drowned out by that or even just small variations in tire pressure, ambient temperature, or simply where and even how one rides (paved vs. unpaved riding surface, riding style and speed, ...). I hear you. Different strokes for different folks. For me it is sort of the opposite. Because the wheel is already very powerful - at least by today's standards. But who knows for certain what is down the road, and how I might feel when we arrive. In the "grand schéma" range is not the most important factor for me either. I could've bought an MSX. Instead I bought an 18L with less range. For me it's about the total package. Personally, I prefer the most brilliant to the most powerful (whatever my particular priorities dictate "most brilliant" to mean on a given purchase). Today, my wheel lust is range, because it is now offered on my favorite wheel. It's like buying Viagra even though you don't need it - you ain't gotta need it to love it.
