bpong
me and my cousin chose to camp at the Pinery Provincial Park beginning sept 15, for 2 nites. we rode some park trails and also rode the narrow paved 9 km trail from the park entrance into Grand Bend and back. the weather was perfect, and the late nite was not cold at all. we ended up riding one late evening (1am) back from grand bend to the park. that was a very enjoyable ride. there was light fog, and a slight breeze. and absolutely NO TRAFFIC in the park roads. it was dead quiet except for the various nocturnal animals roaming in the forest. i completely forgot that our wheels made no sound while gliding thru the park roads ! i booked an electric site so that we could easily charge our wheels. however, we also were permitted to use the outdoor outlets at the park offices. that was an added bonus. we will definitely come back to explore more of the park roads. there is one stretch that is at least 12 km from our riverside #3 camp area to the beaches area that we want to ride next. we did not have enough time to ride all the park roads. Pinery Provincial Park, a great destination for a few days of relaxed riding on the parks various paved roads, as well as the paved trail from the park entrance to Grand Bend. an added note, there is a late nite restaurant and bar called "The Growling Gator" at the end of the main st. (by the beach) in Grand Bend. the staff are very friendly, and they found a nice table on the patio where there was an outlet for us to recharge our wheels. of course, while waiting, we enjoyed a pitcher of sangria, and a nice steak dinner and burger plate. the man who we initially met at the Growling Gator is a mr. karamoutzos, who was very friendly and helpful.
