KS16S First 200 miles with some statistics

So I have been riding the wheel for over a month, mainly use it for short commuting or playing at the park. Really like it so far!

Even the chance of cutoff is very low on every wheel but I have a habit of wheelloging it on every ride just in case of any issue I would have some data to look at. I have combine all samples (> 300k samples) to a single Excel file and have some stats (only count samples with speed > 0):

  • I really like cruising at around 20 mile/h but overall, my average speed was only 13 km/h (free style & uphill riding contributed to this low avg). Riding time on speed greater than 25 km/h was only 22% (only 1% on > 30 km/h).
  • Average power was 129W (min=-647, max=1665) where only 0.5% of riding time the wheel was at greater than 800W, 0.05% at > 1000W.
  • Average temp = 39oC (min=7, max=53).
  • Average voltage = 62V. Btw, I have a habit of charging it only when it gets to lower than 60%.

Likes/Dislikes

  • Overall the wheel meets my need for daily commute. I feel it very reliable riding.
  • It is very stable/balanced, I can let it go by itself and jump on it easily. Doing this with a V5/V8 is harder.
  • It is very powerful. Feeling much stable than a V8, but less responsive than a V8. I have to lean harder going up hill.
  • Really love the Bluetooth speakers, not high quality but good enough for listening random music while riding. It is really good for letting the pedestrians know I am coming like 50 feet away.
  • Really like the built-in handle, at the same time really hate how it gets stuck at one side very time pulling it up (many riders have this issue:().
  • Like how it looks rock solid (not as luxury as the way InMotion wheels look but once a V5 or V8 gets a scratch, it looks ugly).

This is for my record, hope it is helpful for ones looking for the same information...

curious as to how you find it less responsive than a v8? it has a much more powerful motor and larger battery, i have found it to be basically the most responsive wheel i have used.. can stop and go on a dime, are you using the hardest pedal setting?

Powerful and responsive are different things. I just feel I have to lean harder riding up hill. Btw, I am lightweight around 120lbs, in my stats only 0.5% of riding time the wheel was at greater than 800W. Btw, I always ride at Experienced mode.

yes, they are.. but more available power is in direct relation to responsiveness, but of course theres more to it than that, could even be the firmware version.. i havent actually ridden the V8 personally so to be fair you would obviously know more than me it just surprises me to hear that you experience this as most of the reviews are the opposite and out of the ten wheels ive used i prefer the 16s.. possible it could be your firmware or riding style or maybe theyve just changed the V8 since solowheel took it over *shrug*

Not really the same thing.

A Miata is more responsive than a BMW M5. Responsiveness is basically how quickly a wheel can change direction, stop, and accelerate after rider input has been given. An object with less mass will have an easier time with this even if its ultimately slower overall.

If you are a lighter rider, try hill climbing in "medium" mode... Depending on all the factors you may find it easier (I found it to be with the 18L).
