Maybe These Batteries Will Be In Our 2020 EUCs

I know that there are lots of battery breakthrough announcements, but this one looks a bit encouraging based on some of the funding.

From the article, They have the ambitious goal to “displace lithium-ion as the battery of choice for high performance, mobile power applications.”

These Lithion-Ion batteries have at least twice the energy density of our current batteries.

I do think it's only a matter of time before we see a dramatic improvement in EUC battery capacity. Could be two years or five years, but it's coming.

If Musk can build a mini submarine in 2 days to extract kiddos from a Thailand cave he can certainly speed up this development.  Just provide him with more pot to increase his creativity.  ;)

Wasn't Panasonic estimating ~2025 for solid state? It definitely seems to be the direction that a lot of people expect over the long term.

But then again, people used to think that thin-film solar was the future and that didn't exactly pan out. Sometimes stuff like this stays perpetually 5-10 years away.

I know. But I'm really hoping that battery technology isn't the same as fusion reactors (always 30-years away).

Given all the portable tech that we use (mainly phones) there has to be a strong commercial interest in advancing battery tech.

Oh, of course. I'm pretty optimistic, too, considering all of the investment. I just don't necessarily expect the progress to come from the most hyped tech.

I'm impressed with the dramatic decrease in battery prices over the past five years, and it is that price reduction that I believe is responsible for the cockroach-breeding of eScooters everywhere.

I'm even more impressed by the straight out lying of Chinese companies for battery specs. 100% of them lie according to my voltage tester.
