Cloud Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Ive decided to share my impression of kingsong which i received about 3 weeks ago. A lot has been said already but there is a couple of little things noone has touched upon yet. I must say that i havent tried any other unicycles but kingsong 500w and kingsong 800w and ninebot for a minute only. So my review will be limited and i dont really have a way to compare the ways different wheel feel while riding, but for what its worth, here is my 2 centsIs it easy to learn?i learned to ride it quite fast , after 15 minutes of practicing along the railing, i could ride it on the sidewalk, make simple turns, and in an hour i was riding at top speed and in the dark. On the second day i could do it all, street with traffic, grass, steep hills, bad asphalt, sand, basically anything short of riding backwards and riding on one foot. On the fourth day, i took a trip from manhattan to brooklyn, about 11 miles. So , i dont know if it is the wheel or its me, but it seems quite easy to learn it. A couple of people i taught, tried for 15-20 minutes and while they couldnt ride for a long distance without grabbing on to something once in a while i could see that with a bit more time they will be able to ride. Dimensions of the wheel / comfortkingsong appears to be wider than most wheels, which i dont like in terms of aesthetics, but i believe it makes it easier to balance when you are starting out as your feet are further apart and you have more leverage. I wish the profile of it was more like ninebots, where you can sort of grab the wheel between your legs and hold it better. The soft pads on the sides, in my opinion have a flaw that they dont continue down low enough and you end up banging on the foot bone that sticks out ( i keep forgetting the name). So the first two weeks it was messed up pretty bad and bleeding. It does go away over time, but i wish they could make the learning experience less painful. Some changes definitely need to be made to the padding. I also wish the pedals were a bit wider which is important when you are learning, as your feet will hurt oike crazy and having more support is important reliabilityi havent tried other wheels but to me this appears to be one of the most reliable wheels out there. There is 2 levels of high speed beep warnings and the the tilt back. Tilt back is very comfortable and will not throw you off the wheel. You will have about 5 seconds to get off it while the pedals are tilting. And actually if you start slowing down, the tilt back will stop and you can keep riding. In some cases they go back to their normal position and you can just keep riding. Very nice tilt back.tilt back also occurs on slower speeds at lower battery levels. If the motor draws a lot of power of lower battery the pedals tilt back. You feel very protected with this wheel and it appears that it will not let the power cut ever. You also have tilt back on overheating. With my weight, it occurs after about 40 minutes of continuous driving if the temperature is high. Occurs less in the evening when its cooler. You then need to wait a couple of minutes before you can ride again. Is it a ggod thing or a bad thing? Well depends on how you look at it. I wonder what other wheels do. Id rather have the high temp cutoff than let the wheel overheat. Battery has a big safety margin so it appears that its a safety feature designed to not allow you to run out of power and to avoid accidental cutoff. In summary, i ve ridden the wheel a lot not and never had a cut off, and the wheel felt very reliable. powerthe wheel has a lot of power, its very agile and can take steep hills. I rode 500w for a day and actuall rode it alongside 800 to compare and it felt the same in terms of power when i rode normally, but in terms of steep hills the power of 800w really shines. I can easily take what seems to be 20-25 degree slopes with acceleration. Riding experienceoverall a very nice riding experience. Doesnt wobble even at high speeds. Very consistent performance. Of course because its a 14" , i can feell all the bumps and imperfections in the road . So a bigger wheel would be better for a more comfortable ride. The wheel is quite manouverable, ive learned to ride it on sidewalks with many pedestrians, i can go as slow as i want and even stand in one spot for a second or so. It can make very tight turns also. Tire pressure affect the feel of the ride and higher pressure makes you feel all the bumps more but makes for a more solid ride.battery and mileage / chargerthe battery indicator has 10 bars but they go out in twos , so in reality it only has 5 positions which is enough. The battery lasts about 20 miles with my 220 lbs, which i was not happy about but i understand its consistent with the results tested for other wheels.i believe if the road conditions were perfect and i didnt have to brke and accelerate, id squeeze about 25 miles out of the wheel. Higher tire pressure will give you more mileagethe battery behaves quite interestingly. When youve been riding non stop or climbing hiils it shows less power left, but if you leave it off for a while, the battery "recuperates" a bit and start showing higher percentage left.battery takes about 6 to 6.5 hours to charge. One little issue is with the charger. The cord connection to charger could be better. If you dont push it all the way i can hear the sparks flying at the connection. Also the plastic of the charger case got distorted a bit from overheating. I believe what happened was it wasnt lying on the correct side while charging and overheated, this shouldnt happening, they should look into that. Trolley handlethis is a must have.
Cloud Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Continuing with the review. Trolley handle works very good but the wheel has to be on you are hauling it. One little thing they should change is the button that collapses the handle. It sticks out ( see attached pic) and you accidentally keep pressing it when rolling the wheel. The button should not stick out. Another benefit pf the trolley handle is that with it on, you can you it as a stand. The wheel can rest on the bolts and stand ( see attached) so id say its a must have.Weightthe wheel appears slightly heavier than most with the same specs which is not a deal breaker. The bigger battery and more powerful motor add to the weight too. It felt easier to ride a 14" with a smaller battery, easier to manouver it around even though you do get used to the weight eventually. Of course its nicer to lift a lighter wheel also. Not a deal breaker though.looks / aestheticswell, this is subjective of course. I believe the design is not the best but it looks pretty good and kinda grows on you. I am used to it now and i like it. I would prefer a wheel with a thinner profile and the casing that repeats the shape of the wheel itself. I feel itd give me a better grip, look cooler and have a more manageable shape.Head light/ brake lighti love it that it has the built in light. It makes a difference between being able to ride at night and not being able to. Brake light is very usefull in the dark also especially when you ride on the street. I wish the head light was somewhat brighter though.Speed / speed warningsi never checked for sure but it feels very fast. Definitely one of the faster wheels out there. Speed warning are loud which is good and bad at the same time. I wish there was a way to control themConclusionin my opinion kingsong is one of the most reliable wheels out there. The casing is very strong even hough it scratches easily. It packs a lot of power and does a consistent.y good job of providing a pretty comfortable ride at a pretty high speed. Id say the comfort is its most valuable feature. Speed is quite high and the ride at higher speed is stable. It could use a few mods, a charger that overheats less, changes to the padding, a brighter headlight, waterproof usb port, built,t in trolley handle, the looks and ergonomics could benefit from being more "cool" but they are pretty good and grow on you. Overall a good wheel which i would recommend to others. I will try to upload some pics now
BobbyDee Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to post this. I should get the newest model next Wednesday or so.
Sam Clegg Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks for the detailed review. Do you have a bathroom scales you could actually weight it on?
Jason McNeil Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I bought a some postal scales, which reports about 14.5kg
Cloud Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 @Jason McNeil. I got about the same reading around 14.2 to 14.5
MetricUSA Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 You mentioned sparks, you should attach the charger to eu first then to the ac outlet, and yes it will spark there too, but not at the eu port connector...
Cloud Posted September 17, 2015 Author Posted September 17, 2015 You mentioned sparks, you should attach the charger to eu first then to the ac outlet, and yes it will spark there too, but not at the eu port connector...doesnt matter what i attach first. Even after its been charging a while, if you touch the charger at the connection it will still spark. Its just the contact there is not perfect.
KaleOsaurusRex Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I will contact King Song about this issue. You think the connection of the charger cord to the plug-in point on the unit is not correct? I had this with the Airwheel, but not King Song.
MetricUSA Posted September 20, 2015 Posted September 20, 2015 Is the connection not a screw on? Why would you not screw on tight every time then you wouldn't have to 'make sure you push in all the way', of course it will spark if you did not make a good connection that why it is a screw on. And why you make that connection first!
Cloud Posted September 20, 2015 Author Posted September 20, 2015 I didnt mean the connection on the unit, here is the picture of the connection i am talking about
BobbyDee Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 The 1st thing I noticed as I open my new KS 800w box is there is something rattling around inside the charger unit. The unit looks ok on the outside, but sounds like a little piece of plastic or something rattling around inside. I have to see if this works. I'll be back.
BobbyDee Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Is there supposed to be an inflation tube that comes with this?

EUCMania Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I am thinking about get my second EUC. My first one, TG-T3, is dead now. I cannot decide which one to get, a 9B1 E+ or a KS 14" or wait for the KS 16". I know that here, many users likes KS for its battery, power which is better than 9B1 E+. But, on the youtube, I saw many posts showing stunts with 9B1, while no one do that on KS. This gave me an impression that 9B1 E+ maybe more controllable. Your opinions please?

Ks 14" is more controllable than ninebot. As it is 14 " and more powerful. Ninebot may be more comfortable to ride though
xeno Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hi all, I'm using my KingSong 14" 680W since November 2015, it's my second e-wheel and I can spend just one word: FANTASTIC! I'm 70Kg and the battery lasts for more than 60km in these days, with 0-10 degrees (°C), I'm expected a longer lasting next summer. I'm in Italy, so I'm going to write a review in italian

Measuring error, slower speed or less hills maybe. Also if that's multiple trips vs. one single trip, the battery has time to recuperate a bit in between (the voltage gets a bit higher when the battery gets to "rest" in between).

Not much in terms of the hills in our neck of the woods. Even when i let the battery recuperate i dont see much increase in distance. I feel that its the battery indicator that " recuperates" but doesnt translate into much more distance overall. Slower riding...maybe...id say there probably has to be some degree of measuring error there still... i am lucky if my 100kg behind gets 24 miles out of the 840 battery. more often 20-22. Slower riding helps, I can see myself getting 25 if i am super patient riding slow, but ive yet to achieve it.
