A lucky night for me

  I TOTALLY misread that lusty thread title.  Plus the one about people (making sweet sweet) loving (to) their KS18L’s.  I came for the juicy tales of unbridled passion with several Russian brides only to find tales of EUC wheel lust.  :dribble:  And what’s this?  Oh, yeah, I have the same reaction whenever I watch an “Alex Segmuller” riding video.  I get slightly confused about my sexuality, but who can blame a guy?  He’s just so cool on a wheel.  :w00t2:   No shame in watching that nor holding hands while riding electric unicycles.  :innocent1:   As long as you’re riding in circles.

Just remind me not to ride my sexy Tesla too close to you, Cloud.  :whistling:  BTW those are just padded protective shorts I’m wearing.

  Nice report.

Kind of disappointed that you left us hanging. Which 18L rides better, the black or white version?

The white 18L rides noticeably better! ...especially when its tire is pumped to the higher pressure....

Ha! best way to make sure @Hunka Hunka Burning Love says something is to tell him not to! Well, i cant complain, i set myself up. But it's not my fault 18L is so freaking sizzling hot!  And yeah, you should actually be careful riding that Tesla next to me though - Ive been eyeballing that one, kinda ready to pull the trigger on that sexy beast...either that or the blue  ACM v2....still cant decide ...a little help??

Go with your gut instinct!  I’d wait a little bit to make sure King Song irons out that little trolley of death firmware issue.   :whistling:  Are you more a range guy or a speed demon or somewhere in between?  No Ninebot Z lovin’?

I’ve been quite happy with my Tesla, and it just zoom zooms.  Range is enough for me.  My legs get tired after 27 km.  Durability after a crash I have no clue about.  Have you crashed much since the biker incident?  I hear the ACM’s are like tanks.  I think @TremF liked his before he went to the Monster.

Maybe the MSuper X might be in the stars, but it might be too similar to your MSuper?  Maybe a batteryless one to swap cells over could be an option.

Sometimes my gut instinct is so convoluted, it'd take a team of pshychiatrists to decipher and they'd probably get it wrong. I am going to get Mcm5 later also, so looking for a feel in -between the 14" and 18" , a 16 incher but not too close to the heavy 18". Ive tried both Tesla and ACM v2, but at low battery,  for a short time only and not side by side. Wasn't "sold" on either, but with a Msuper or V10 pedal upgrade, they may be a comfortable enough ride. i also suspect that the ACM was the older v2 with the 1500w motor.  I really wish KS16 was more powerfull and faster, id go for that, as i like the feel.

Lookswise, Tesla is sexier, but ACM has a bit more rugged masculinity to it. Dont really need all of the 1600wh, my ideal capacity would be 1300Wh, would save me some $$, but currently not in stock. 1020WH is on a small side for me, but tolerable, but it bothers me a bit that just for a $150 more i could get an extra nearly 600wh with the ACM.

Most importantly, not sure if ACM is agile enough compared to the Tesla. It seems like 3-4 lbs heavier, but smaller though. 18 inchers will alsways be there and i will always own one, but dont need a repetition of the 18" experience. need something more agile. I think my gut feeling is ACM, but kinda need reassurance. Do you have a headache reading this jumble yet?

I wake up with that headache every day... So I am not the only wacko here... I have come to the conclusion that I will just buy them all and figure it out from there... I will have 5 when my MCM5 comes, and I figure I am half way there, hopefully there will be a lag time of new wheels coming out after this current spurt... :eff02518bb:

you are not the only wacho - you can trust me on that. And the other 1,000,000,000,001 forum members are also tangible proof.

I want to get them all too. Problem is there is always someone who will get 2 of each, and leave me envious for more. Yep, i am praying for that lag too....god save my soul -  I think ive just made up my silly mind...going for the ACM....unless someone convinces me otherwise in the next 4 minutes, or 5......boy it's no fun being bipolar...

I REALLY liked my first ACM. Quick, responsive, comfortable ride and able to take some punishment - until the axle breaks (original ACM)... I got the Monster because I wanted more miles and a bigger wheel to cope with parts of the canal where I ride only that didn't turn out as expected.

I now have the ACM 2 1300wh and love it! Everything I liked about the original ACM is even better. More powerful motor, new board, 84v and with a thicker axle I don't have to worry about it breaking, though I won't be dropping off so many curbs anyway. It also seems quieter, which is a bonus.

IMO the ACM takes over from the MSuper V2 for being an all rounder tank. It's not the prettiest but the Tesla's LED's and shininess aren't for me. Also I don't want to worry about how it might look if it gets bashed about a bit.

Sounds like one can’t go wrong with the ACM2.  After watching @meepmeepmayer‘s fantastical journeys it looks to be a solid performer even with a little bit of duct tape.  :whistling:

Too bad it has that afterthought trolley handle.  It does look a little like a spoiler / rear luggage mount so maybe it’s not all bad.  Even though the Tesla one is flimsy, I love how it is integrated into the shell.  Too bad the Tesla’s curvy shape precludes more room for batteries.

I like the Tesla fan cooled top mounted control board tray design which keeps temperatures below 47°C for me.  The ring lights help keep you visible to traffic.  It does lack a brake/rear light which is weird.  Who is designing these cases and choosing to omit basic components?  Amber side marker lights would be cool in a future design.  Rather than disco, think modern car / motorcycle.  They have daytime running lights, headlights, brake lights, and side amber lights/reflectors.  Let’s make these bonifide vehicles and rid the rest of the toy characteristics.  Well maybe not all of them.  I kinda like the circular ring light.  :innocent1:

Despite @Hunka Hunka Burning Love's feeble attempts to sway me in the direction of the flashy but rather wimpy Tesla, i've decided to pull the trigger on the ruggedly handsome tank of an ACM. Call me crazy if you like...oh wait..i am in fact crazy...so that would be fair enough

I have the original 1500W ACM, not the 1900W ACM2. Also I have one of the first 84V ones which had thinner motor cabling than later ones (even before the Tesla motor upgrade). But your point stands, as the ACM2 is better than mine in any regard, so yeah. Only 16 incher with a good battery size, and it's immensely stable, tanky, and unreletingly strong (and that's only my old one. ACM2 must be a beast - stronger, faster).

Did @Marty Backe do the Mt. Wilson tour with an ACM2 yet? I'd consider that the real long term incline test, not the short overheat hill.

@Cloud You're not crazy. You just bought the best wheel. Nothing crazy about that.

Thanks man! buying the best wheel is not crazy. Crazy is buying another wheel when i already have two, planning to buy yet another one after the ACM, and have a DOA one that i still can't get a refund for!

Yes, I rode my ACM2 up the 4600 foot Mt Wilson. I also rode it on a 45-mile mountain ride that included 4900-feet of climbing. The ACM2 is an amazing wheel!

How long did you ride at a time before a break? You didn't stop every few minutes, right? Could it have done the climb more or less non-stop?

I assume that you are asking about the 45-mile ride. I don't remember. Of course we didn't stop every few minutes. Just would stop to drink, eat a snack, talk shop, etc. Never stopped because of the wheels, so if you had the stamina the ACM2 has the stamina.

@Marty Backe, you will be surprised, but to a big extent, i made the decision after looking at your flicker account photos and comparing the way you look with Tesla against the way you look with the ACM. If vanity is a sin, I am guilty as charged.

Very funny, but I appreciate that.  I obviously like the looks of the ACM2 too :D
