Popular Post ir_fuel
I had my first go on an electric scooter today. Xiaomi Mi. I rode it for about 20 minutes, and tbh, I hated it. Once you are used to EUC riding this just doesn't feel right. Unstable, steering is also very unstable (these things were designed to be used by kids pushing them around at 8mph, not adults riding them at 16mph, not very "carve friendly" with those small wheels and the way the front is set up), and it's FWD Lots of fun getting wheel spin on the front wheel when riding over obstacles. IMHO all those e-scooter riders don't know what they're missing by not getting an EUC ... Guess you won't miss what you've never experienced. 4
Popular Post houseofjob
@ir_fuel you might rethink your stance if you tried a Mini Motors e-kick scooter (Speedway Mini 4 Pro, Speedway 4 Pro, Dualtron II, Dualtron Ultra) instead of that XiaoMi lite model! I finally got on a 40mph max Dualtron II the other week ago thanks to @Mrd777, and as a result, I currently have one on order from eWheels.com! IMHO there's merits to all PEV's, but the portability factor is what makes EUCs, eBoards, and e-Kick Scooters stand above the rest. What e-Kick Scooters have going for it is no learning curve, but more importantly (with the Pro models) bigger performance than EUCs (they're now reaching 100kph speeds with the upcoming Dualtron X). Don't get me wrong though, my main PEV will always be EUCs, for the ultra-compact factor and pinpoint agility / turning radius. 4
Esper
I too also placed an order recently on the Dualtron EX II. I was riding an EUC for a while and until my city fixes its roads, I'll use the Dualtron. For me, its not about the sensation of riding, but the safety of my person while crossing the street. I know for sure that I could just as easily ride at a lower speed with my old Tesla. But what I am not going to do is ride at full speed down a street that hasn't been maintained in over a decade and has more cracks than Deadpool's face. I am getting mine for safety and I'll use an EUC when they come out with a proper high end Z10 maybe in a few years.

That's an accident waiting to happen ... Must be interesting once you get speed wobbles with those small wheels.

I would hardly call the Dualtron X's two 13" tires 'small' (50% larger than the XiaoMi M365's 8.5" tires and probably almost 4x the width). Not to mention the 19-step tunable hydraulic suspension... hope that seat is optional though. What you rode is basically a toy, not a real e-kick scooter. ir_fuel
ah 13" ok that's a different story
ir_fuel
I think there is also a vocabulary issue here. In our country we have 2 different names for what seems to be the same product in English. We have a "trottinette" and then we have a "trottinette electrique" and then we have a "scooter" and a "scooter electrique" In English they are all called "scooters" it seems. It's like the difference between a bicycle and a moped and an electrical bike. 2
houseofjob
Don't go by American English, we bastardize all! ?? To me, makes most sense: Scooters = too vague, but mostly Vespas, etc, because they have existed the longest thus, Electric Scooters = Vespas (for me) too! But classifying the Dualtron types as "electric kickboard scooters" or e-kick scooters, etc, seems most accurate, as they are an electric-motored evolution from the small child kick scooters. 1

Dunno, if you look at the last picture, with the seat and all that ... a motorcycle is also an evolution of a moped.

ir_fuel
Had a few more rides with this toy. Instead of just riding around I used it as a real A to B tool. Ok, it has indeed some positive sides for that kind of use (an EUC is more practical to take inside, this is safer wrt bumps and potholes but riding it one-handed is pretty sketchy). Wouldn't want to do an emergency brake on this thing though ... 25 km/h is pretty fast already. And apparently you can unlock them so they go even faster ... pure madness. But I can imagine with bigger wheels, dual motors, suspension and better geometry it would become an entirely different beast.
Esper
I would not be able to do this on my EUC because of how rough the road is. But watch. 2
ir_fuel
Why does this thing have tyres like on a car and not motorcycle/bike round tyres? Doesn't that suck for high speed cornering?

ED209
Has anyone had any experience on an Inmotion L8F? I am thinking of getting one, I want something light, powerful and discreet, not too obvious looking, I need to be able to get away with it due to Uk Laws. Dualtron looks heavy, like it is on steroids. Do they have a lighter version? Edited June 6, 2018 by Edddeus
ir_fuel
Just noticed they equipped the Dualtron with a steering damper. Yeah, that's still comparable to a kick scooter ?

I know that the Dualtrons are more powerful while speedways are lighter, smaller, and have their own 'mini' offshoot.

The first half of the video is unboxing and the second half is testing out capabilities.
Hunka Hunka Burning Love
I'd like to see @EUC Extreme ride that baby on a closed track! That acceleration and braking is pretty extreme! 1
The Fat Unicyclist
Kingsong have just released some new scooter models... It would be good to see how they compare with some of these other "serious" scooters.
