By that logic we should all be forced to live in padded rooms. I just don't accept those arguments. IMHO.

I think I remember this from college. This would be called the slippery slope fallacy. I think it's sort of a civic duty to minimize being a burden to society if you can, i.e. using seat belts and wearing helmets, not riding in a pickup truck bed etc. If you are gonna be a smoker, pay those sin taxes today for when you are gonna be a drain on taxpayer resources tomorrow. Resources are finite, let's not waste them needlessly.

I’m with Marty. Give me freedom or give me death. College is where you get indoctrinated in the ways of socialism (and yes, I have been there, done that, got the t-shirt).  Luckily for Marty and I, we won’t live too long after this country flips to socialism.. which the way it’s looking is not too far off the horizon. There is soon to be no place left for us old birds.. that got to experience actual freedom when we were young.

Do not you know that yellow snow is less common when white.
I try to avoid the yellow fall of snow, it adds to the challenge :)
So far, I have not hit a yellow national art. :D:D

Yes, I really do love the unique sound of the ACM2 motor. It's supposed to be the same motor as the Tesla but the drive electronics must be different.

Here I do disagree with you @Smoother. I've posted videos where I've crashed or fallen off the wheel. I just think it's unrealistic to paint some idealistic vision of EUC ownership to 'outside' world.

EUCs are such an amazingly niche activity that I have no fears of any bans based on even a death that may occur. Everyone points to hoverboards, but they were everywhere. I live in a fairly densely populated region, yet most people still are surprised to see me. I think I'll be shocked if I ever see any signage that mentions EUCs.

problem is that when people see a euc they all said one thing as the first thing:

"ohh so it is like a one wheeled hoverboard?"

"isnt it dangerous?"

Here's a longer-form video where I show my typical Venice Beach riding with some commentary along the way

Did you almost become a Marty pancake at 8:03? Looks as though you pulled out in front of a car? Yikes! Careful Marty.. you’ve used a up a few of your nine lives, and this hobby still needs you around.

No, I was watching the car and the driver was momentarily stopped, waiting for me to pass. It looks more dangerous in the video. The car honking was something unrelated.

Ah, hate to burst anyone's bubble, but aren't those just regular pedal bikes?

Yep... EBikes! Toledo is the last place I thought a program like this would be implemented. Usually the sidewalks get rolled up at 9PM in this town. The mayor, city council, local hospitals, banks, construction firms ... etc.  are all on board! It might be fun to hang out with a group of EBikers. At least I could then ride with someone....anyone! Not sure if my grandson will ride his NB1E+ anymore.

Ever since I saw your first video with the ACM2 I knew I had to get myself one.. So, after some little customization, my own new ACM2 "The Revenge" is ready to hit the road. Video coming soon.....

Very nice! BTW @Marty Backe loves those referral complements. @Jason McNeil gives him a $100 for every wheel he promotes ending in a sale. :)

Ah  <insert awkward pause>.  It's great to see these bike share programs expanding.  I'm not 100% certain, but I think those bikes might not have hub motors as far as I can see on their website?  Usually when I hear E-Bikes, I think of those with the battery pack and motors that can zip along at pretty high speeds.

I think these bike share cycles might just be regular pedal bikes with some tracking GPS and unlocking electronics rather than full fledged hub motor assist drive that we see on other E-Bikes?  I certainly could be wrong.  :whistling:  Is Toledo getting a special edition E-Bike maybe that isn't listed on the supplier's website?

Your correct Hunka! :crying: Damn I was mislead...or was just to enthusiastic to read further.

What an ugly pedal bike!! I was thinking somewhere under all of that covered frame was a Litho battery to power a hub. The city spent $300k for this program! We could have purchased 300 mid-range EUCs for that cost and it would have been a whole lot more fun for the public!

Air New Zealand has just announced that (later this year) they will start flying direct from Auckland to Chicago...

Which on global terms is just around the corner from yours - so I could stop by for a ride the next time I am heading past that way?

I do ? I know that you are joking, but just so it's clear to everyone else, I have no affiliation with Jason. It goes without saying why I support his Enterprise.

Only Joking Marty! It must be nice to hear that you have personally impacted a member’s decision when selecting their wheel(s).

True friends are there to show you the hard truths.  BTW Suits is back on TV!  :w00t2:

I think E-Bikes run at over $3000 per unit.  For 100 that would cost $300,000 right there.  To create the charging infrastructure around the city it's likely to add around $500,000 to get things wired up.  Add to that the cost of liability insurance in case a rider has an accident riding an E-Bike at high speed without a helmet.  You've also got some ongoing costs along with repair, vandalism, and theft.  I think it would be difficult to recoup much investment cost from rental revenue over time.

Maybe one day.  You never know.

OMG that would be awesome! I would much rather fly from Chicago to Auckland!

Edit: A round trip plane fare departing Chicago in December is just $1100. Amazing price.

Hold off until February... The weather is better then.

Unless of course, you want to come to mine for a summer Christmas barbeque?
