Believe it or not, I've just scratched the surface of what's available to ride here. I have many more years of new territories to open up to EUCs. Be sure to check out my ascent video. I just posted Part 1 as a new Topic. 3

I rode e-scooters years ago when they where as odd as EUCs today. I did well over 25K miles in 4 years. They were relatively expensive with only 15 - 20 mph speeds. Interest peaked but people chose the "cheap" (both in construction and price) gas "goped" like scooters and ran amok on sidewalks and bike trails with 20-30 mph speeds. They were dirty, loud 2-strokes so you can imagine the outrage by the joggers, bikers, roller bladders, walkers, etc. The bureaucrats in their great wisdom made no distinction between the slower, quiet, more responsibly ridden e-scoots and banned them all.? 3

I did the same and gave e-scooters a shot back-in-the-day. I had a GoMotorboard (the original 1500X version) and it was fairly practical as a last-mile-solution, but it couldn't perform anywhere near the 23-45cc 2-stroke gas scooters available at the time (~50cc is moped class). The go-peds were (very) loud and plenty fast; kids loved them but didn't know how to handle them. Eventually, the problems caused by spoiled kids who considered these 'toys' brought about a backlash for personal mobility vehicles (PEV's) which reverberates to this day. On the other-hand, my GoMotoroard was quiet and subdued. It looked just like a regular kick scooter (in fact, you had to kick for the motor to engage). It also had speed (12-15mph) thanks to two, tiny 375W motors (which usually drained the battery before you traveled 10 miles). Unfortunately, it badly needed some suspension and future models failed to address this and proved to be a disappointment... Eventually, the gas-moped/go-ped craze sorta fizzled. Outcry over noisy engines were finally met with enforcement after two-stroke engines were deemed 'polluters' - leading them to become effectively banned; (for mopeds large and small). Over the years, cheap/generic e-scooters have tried to fill the gap left behind by the earlier go-ped craze (with varying degrees of success). However, it wasn't until battery tech improved that we started seeing innovation re-applied to e-scooters; (which now are so varied that they have become a disrupting force for breaking down transportation barriers...) Amazing composer. Those mountain roads look perfect for wheeling. Can't wait to get a longer range wheel and have the ability to do a long ride like that without range anxiety. We also have the issue that the uk =/= california!

Every weekend we end up doing a long ride together. really nice. I notice from the thumbnail and in the video we see a Sony RX100 (maybe Mk. 2) Digital camera on an extending tripod. Was any of the footage from this used in your video? I have this camera (Mk2 version) and was wondering about using it for the odd ride but didn't think the stabilization would be up to the task. I am also hesitant to use a $1000 camera while riding a unicycle! Edited May 21, 2018 by WARPed1701D

Hi, Your movie looks really good. You've managed well with your new selfie stick. It is much nicer to see the whole rider in videos, from the wheel to the helmet. Before I buyed my first wheel (for a few weeks ago), I've watched hundred of videos on YouTube about EUC. But in this stage, lonely wheels running miles after miles after miles packed with wind and other noise disturbances feels so boring. So if you continue in in your own style like in this video, it looks really promising, well done. 4

Looks good. What camera are you using? The stabilization seems pretty good. I actually created a new stick along the lines of what you did, as an experiment. My Mt Wilson ride video was filmed with it. I added a bunch of handlebar wrap for the hand grip section to make it nice and thick which is easier on the hands while holding it. I prefer to angle the camera so that you can't see the stick. For me it's all about creating a suspension of disbelief which is broken when you can see the hands holding stick. Likewise you'll never see me looking at the camera (to see if it's adjusted correctly). I'm just explaining my process and thoughts behind it. Other people are OK with showing them turning on and off the camera, etc. Basically zero editing. Whatever floats your boat. But that's how I do it. 2

Looks good, I liked the editing and the music fading out at the end. Reminded me of the choochtech style of video. When you turned the camera 360 degrees and used that as an edit point was a nice touch. Edited May 22, 2018 by steve454 2

At some points the video was noticeably smoother and I was wondering if you had added a gimbal. I checked the description and saw no gimbal listed.
