Dear riders and KingSong representatives! Maybe somebody can help me to diagnose and understand what is the issue with KS-18L? You can see everything in the video: my EUC was charging and I just started to rub and wipe it with paper napkins, suddenly I heard regular beeps (every 2-3 seconds) and when I turned it on I saw unusual red LED indicators (1st and 9th from each side). The problem is floating, it's difficult to cause it again, but it happened already few times with my KS-18L. After turning off/on everything is OK and riding is normal without any troubles. Does anybody know what is the issue and what do that red LED indicators and regular beeps mean? videocompress-016-VID_20190323_150410.mp4

I received my KS-18XL in June 1, 2019. This is my first wheel ever, amazing fun, been riding it for a month, 727 km done on it. I started reading about battery packs and how to keep it fresh for a long time. Should I charge to 100% or just 80%? Only then did I notice that my wheel would only charge to 85%, it would stop charging at 80.7 V, then later settle down to 80 V. Started debugging, maybe it's a faulty charger? KS-18XL has two 20s3p battery packs connected in parallel. I noticed that if only one is connected, the wheel charges normally to 84 V, if only another is connected, it only charges to 80 V and shuts off, the charger shows green light. The voltage would indicate that only 19 cells out of 20 are working. After communication with the seller and seller communicating with Kingsong we decide to try to rebalance the cells. I didn't know the cell balancing connectors are in the corner, so I removed the whole cover. If someone needs to balance their battery back, you don't need to open it all. I noticed the board had physical damage and first assumed it was me who had somehow damaged it during the disassembly. I was all dismayed so didn't document this part very well. Later after thinking more and more I realised it couldn't have been me, it had to have happened in the factory. 19 cells out of 20 were all showing equal voltage (3.8V), but the 13th cell was showing 0 V, exactly the same cell who's BMS had been damaged. Kingsong has told the dealer they would be sending me a new battery pack, so I am happy with the service, however it will just take a long time to reach me so the riding season might be over Will update if I do receive it or not. This story does sound awfully similar to @FrankFilmer incident. His wheel only charged to 70%, which I think is a huge red flag and indicates battery problems (maybe only 18 cells working out of 20). Finally, I think that our wheels are inherently very dangerous and had my board been damaged in another spot, or had I kept riding the wheel without paying attention I would have eventually gotten a cut-out or a fire in my home. The wheel doesn't have any advanced battery management system, it should watch the health of all cells and it should warn the user that the battery is malfunctioning, but there is no such warning for the user. I was riding with 19s3p and 20s3p battery backs connected in parallel. That can't be good. Always make sure that the wheel charges to 100% and actually check that it reaches the voltage it should be reaching. Just because charger shows green, doesn't mean all cells are working.

This is still a beta version at this point. Just upgraded with no issues, my wheel has fortunately not become an expensive paper-weight Haven't taken it for a ride yet, but reports so far indicate that there are no noticeable changes in behavior compared to FW 2.0. (I can confirm that has been my experience so far on FW 2.02 with my 16X, although I've only put 15 km on it since the upgrade) The only change I can confirm for sure is the ability to change pedal tilt (as well as set wheel auto power-off). And no, the headlight/taillight bug has not been fixed...

I got around to printing a hand full of mten stands. Mostly because I was bored and just didnt have anything much else to print. I couldnt help myself and kept printing until I realized it was getting a 'little' out of hand. So, before I toss these up on sleezebay and try to sell them, I'll offer them up to anyone here that's interested. I'll even toss in a couple rev2 charge cover caps too. There's no brand or initials printed into the stands, no need to pay me AND advertise for me both! These stands weight around 1/2 pound (250gr),take about 12 hours to print, and are one solid piece. The design came from someone else but i modified it and it was already under community commons rights. Hell, maybe that means I need be sued? Regardless, I'm not trying to get rich off these, but I'll need sell/rid of them unless I decide to just start using them for some other random idea. These fit the mten ONLY, as far as I know. They hold at the hangers where its still possible to stand on the pedals. The stand does NOT rest on any of the wheel's plastic. The size is narrow enough the wheel cant fall between, but its still easy to settle onto the stand. It took a few revisions to get it just right. They are printed VERY strongly and I can stand up on the mten on the stand and jump like an idiot(im 130lbs). I've also stood on the mten on the stand and leaned over until I tumbled to the ground. Yes, the stand can take it. The mten pushes over before the stand does fwiw. Overkill...definitely. Could you just use a block of wood.. of course! I figure these should go for around $25+ shipping. If anyone is interested, just give me a shout and we can work something out. I have TONS of colors, so I could make one to order if requested. The made to order multicolor stands may have to be a few $$ more, as its a bit more effort and time consuming to make them. I can also print a much larger version that fits the ks18, but that stand takes nearly $30 in filament (I use quality kodak filaments primarily) and 24hrs. Yes, you can stand on it too. I even made one for my sherman and it holds with me standing on it, tho I wont offer one up as the fit is shit and its too costly to keep retrying. Stands are made of Pla+ or Petg. Petg is a more durable material, less likely to soften under heat and has more flex. If you planned on leaving the stand on black asphalt in the direct sunshine, petg is your answer. Pla+ is corn based and also durable enough to take you standing on them. Anyhow, let me know if you are interested. Let me know if this post is in the wrong place. Hell, let me know if you think I'm nuttier than a fruitcake. Apologies I only have 2 wheel versions, as I only have my own wheels to verify them. Im ocd, and 'close enough', aint!

Hi folks! Today I had to change the tire because the one that came with my KS18L had a small production fault - some kind of sideway "bump" - which led to a wobbleish effect. At first I thought it was me, but it was definitely the tire after I caught the bump on camera. @1RadWerkstatt was very helpful and sent me a replacement tire, same brand, but different type. (Many thanks for that, Chris!) And the new one is the anti-puncture type, so hey, not only a replacement but an upgrade! Even better! Everything worked fine so far... at least as long as I went on my first test ride - MAN! It is a totally different feeling, especially while turning! With my old tire (C-1488) turning felt smooth and very controllable. Now, with the new one (C-1737) it feels like that I only have to THINK about turning and the wheel falls to the side - nearly got caught by a fence I am used to fly around . Also, I was able to turn around in really small circles, but now it felt that I needed room like a car to fully turn around while already scraping the pedals on the ground - I simply wasn't able to control the angle the way I am used to... Maybe it is just necessary to practice it with the new tire again, but it is astounding, at least for me. I read that the CST 1488 might be a bit softer, which might explain why turns had been so much more controllable and easy. I hope that I will get back the level of control I had. BTW: the only shop I know of that sells the C-1488 is eWheels, didn't find it on aliexpress or elsewhere. Does anybody know if they ship overseas? They don't ship overseas, sadly Thought I'd share this... so guys, if you want a really new feeling while riding your "old" wheel, don't buy a new wheel, just buy a new and different tire I bet you gotta re-learn driving at least a bit! Regards Holger

Only 139.8miles on the wheel. It has big pedals upgraded and rides VERY smoothly. Ive combed thru it and ridden it for a charge cycle to verify its operation and charging ability. This wheel looks really nice and the worst of it is seen on a pedal, as I scraped it in a turn while riding to unlock the top speed. Minor scuff on trolley from leaning on my truck (truck looks worse). This wheel is FW 2.0 and is unlocked to 50kmh(verified personally). Fully charges and has zero issues. It has the 2kw motor. Trolley works, including auto lift sensor. Sale includes factory charger and a blue rollNZ bodyguard. The bodyguard is from my OTHER 18L so its seen some use but still fits great. This was purchased as a duplicate so wife would be enticed to ride. She never gained interest and this one just sits and waits for its next owner. Firmly asking $1100+ shipping to continental USA. Jason at ewheels will give me an estimate. I think this wheel cost me $60 to ship from Washington, just as a general idea. I am located near Marshall, NC and this will be shipped in factory box. If i didnt already have one exactly like it (more miles and has taken a beating), I wouldnt be selling this peach. The 18L with 2kw motor has proven to be a VERY capable and trustworthy wheel for me so far! Sturdy white plastic shells, nice and round tire, rolls like a cadillac!

I have a problem with my KS18L – it is not charging at all. It used to have the tail light glowing red, and bluetooth would connect while charging but now - nothing. I've taken the covers off to see if I could see anything obvious. When I plug it in the LEDs in the picture flash for a fraction of a second and then nothing else happens. There is still 84V getting to the board – I’ve checked this with a multimeter against where the charging wires connect to the motherboard. I’ve checked the two 30amp fuses and they are ok. Any suggestions please

My KS18L sometimes makes a strange sound. In this state the fan is switched on. Temperature is around 50 degrees. When the strange sound goes silent, then fan is still running, but quietly. Will you know origin of this sound? Here is the sound: https://drive.google.com/open?id=133TARhJsxUqGOjPD9qQlvzJsC0zl6HU2

Hey guys, I'm completely new to Electric unicycles. I've never ridden one, but am itching to get on one. I don't make a lot of money currently to spend on things I want, so I've been saving for a while now to buy my first EUC. Ive finally just saved up enough. My thoughts are this - I understand most people buy a beginner wheel to learn on and beat up until they become proficient, and then upgrade to a better faster wheel. My thing is that I probably will only be able to afford one wheel for now, and won't be able to buy another one in the foreseeable future. If I want I have just enough for a Kingsong ks 18l, or I can go with the ks 16s. I think both are sweet. Will it be too hard to learn on an 18l? My use will be riding for fun, more in the country, longer rides and exploring. Not really any commuting and not much city riding for me. Thoughts please? Thanks!

Hey guys, Wondering if some of you who have ridden both the 18L and the Tesla can chime in. I'm coming from the KS16B, and I outgrew it speed-wise about a year ago but have been waiting for the 18L. I love pretty much everything about the 18L from what people are saying, but in looking at the Tesla, I'm wondering if that extra 7mph in top speed (from 30mph to 37mph) will be something that bugs me a few months after getting an 18L. I know with my KS16B, the ~19 mph max speed felt pretty slow within a few months of riding in bike lanes and streets, and if I had had the option of getting something faster (which didn't really exist at the time), I would have wanted that. Those of you guys riding the 18L, are you pushing against the 30mph limit and wishing you had the extra 5-7mph of something like a Tesla? And are 30mph / 37mph speeds relatively comfortable cruising speeds for each? Or is it too crazy cruising at ~37mph on a 16" wheel? My 16B isn't terribly unstable, but it also doesn't go 30+ mph. Last thing -- i've heard somewhere of something called the "gotway glide" which is supposed to be some ethereal quality that GW EUCs have that make them really smooth or something. Does this apply to the Tesla? And is it noticeably absent from the KS18L? Thanks in advance.

Got my KS18L yesterday and MSuper X last week, first time Gotway and Kingsong wheel owner and my previous wheels are Ninebot A1 and InMotion V8, a few observations - KS18L is more comfortable to ride, may due to higher position of padding Both Gotway and Kingsong Apps are not working, either crash on my 3 Android phones or can't connect to wheel Wheellog can connect to MSuper X The auto motor shutoff of KS18L is not working as robust as InMotion, it turned-on twice on my first up stair walking I like the trolley handle of KS18L, it takes more effort to maintain balance on MSuper X trolley handle Overall, they both are great wheel, more stable, stronger motor and longer range then my A1 and V8 Edit 6/13 - Both Apps can connect to wheel now. The trick is if your Bluetooth is always on, you may need to turn off then turn on to make the app find your wheel. Specification compare table -

I though it might be useful to have place to check what is latest firmware version. I just got version 1.09 updated as I post this, the update completed successfully. Edit: @US69poster this change log. V 1.09: 1. Added multi-RGB pattern, mode 1 is automotic mode2. Self-checking the match of firmware version and series number, if not match, the wheel will loose balanceV1.081. Automatic sensor calibration2. Avoid wheel freeze issue.

I know there are threads on how to turn-off the "beloved" "Bluetooth is connected", but mine doesn't come on anymore. I also can't play music even though it shows KS Music paired with my phone. I do get the "Please decelerate message" and the KS Bluetooth still works with Wheel-log. The KS app still works, the horn works, etc. Any ideas? (KS18L)

KingSong KS18L owners in the USA looking for a extra charger can get them here on ebay. I had several people contacting my about buying an extra charger so they could make use of their dual charging ports but I have been too busy and was only able to get to a couple of you. KS18L specific chargers can be purchased on eBay or at http://www.tec-toyz.com http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&pub=5575378759&campid=5338273189&customid=&icep_item=323471539614&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg&toolid=11111

After seeing Ian's (SpeedyFeet.com) range test of the KS18L I was somewhat alarmed. He documented a large disparity between the King Song's app range and Map My Ride. I got a sinking feeling in my stomach that my "App" claimed 30 mile ride with 38% battery left was a total fallacy. My riding weight is 240 lbs at 6' 4+". That type of performance would have been spectacular for one KW battery. I checked my work commute distance by gps, motorcycle trip meter and Goggle Maps. They all had within .1 of mile at ~ 8.2 miles each way for a total of 16.4 miles. The KS app had the distance at 20 miles. Upon getting an accepting a offer for a group ride, I decided I would use that opportunity to discover my true range. The route was 29.2 miles (it was expended by 4.5 miles) per Goggle Maps. Since it was all bicycle trial (famous and measured) I "assumed" the number to be very accurate. I rode 3 miles (actual) to a train. The app said 3.8 miles. I took a 18 minute train ride to the meetup point. The ride from that point was 25 miles per my fellow rider's Darkbot app. I couldn't precisely map a approximately 4.5 portion where we did a big loop around Valley Forge National Park, but 4.5 per Darkbot seemed about right. The KS app had 30+ miles. I had planned on taking the train back to Philly, but decided to ride back to determine what the KS18:'s maximum range was with me on it. I also wanted to see the effect of Speed dropping as the battery emptied. I made it home with 7% battery crawling at 4-5 mph. The total distance was 32.9 miles. The KS app had me at 41 miles+. The good news is I a never notice a speed reduction until after 20%. There were some, I am sure, but I didn't need to go more than 18-22 mph on crowded bile trails. Between 20% and 10% it would do Ninebot E+ speeds 10-13 mph max. Below 10% it got real ugly lol. I would like to do 100 miles in a day, but I need a little more battery even with a fast charger. I heard a KS18XL might be coming out, but I can't justify buying it. A conversion/update kit, however, would be welcomed. The above it is just the experience of a 240 lb rider on a mostly flat route. YMMV. Enjoy your KS18L!

@US69 Can you forward an idea for optional aftermarket items to suggest for Kingsong? They kind of did this with extra charger port, I thinking expanding the concept. Yesterday I think Jason posted that bigger pedals are in the works as an option. Great idea, I my book could be pedals surface options too. I think a formfitted (rain)cover could be a fantastic optional, for a commuter to improve weather resistance of the wheel and for people who want to avoid scratching their wheel. It could be made with some refective and foamy material similar to how the Inmotion have done for their wheels. And I still don't get why wheel makers don't make foam option like you had for ninebot s1 (I don't recall model right maybe, as I only saw pictures of this, but never owned a ninebot). In most cases manufactures tend to have optionals to improve profit thinking of other type of product, e.g. cars.

Has the new generation wheels changed your riding style?
Jerome posted a topic in General Discussion
My riding weight has been between 235-240 lbs. I purchased 9B1E+ for local trips and for use with public transit. It handled my weight well and I never had any problems including using the "flimsy" trolley. I "thought" I had no need for hi -speed, but wanted a little more speed and range so I could commute to work without using Public transit. I looked at the INmotion Glide 3 (V8), but Jason thought it would only be a marginal upgrade for my size. I watched the various, umh, "discussions" on the forum regarding speed, big batteries, range, etc. I watched with amazement (but with what I thought was with no interest to me) the videos of riders going 20, 25, 30+ mph. I thought I would be perfectly happy with a non-tilt-back 16 mph. Perhaps I would dare to go 18 mph on occasion. If I had not gotten an 18 inch wheel maybe that reality would have come true. However, I purchased a KS18L and discovered what all the talk about smooth, stable riding was about. The horrible streets and sidewalks which struck fear in me on the E+ suddenly became annoying bumps at best. I found myself rushing to get the miles in to unlock the 50 kmh speed. What had happened to me? This was insane. No one should go over 16-18 mph on these machines. I have set my one alarm to 40 kmh and tilt-back at 45 mph .. but why would i have them so high? What are the new wheels doing to us? My rational mind knows the danger of a cut-off at those speeds! I was following some bikers today (while doing a 30 mile ride) and was cruising at 24 mph thinking I was at best doing 20 mph (no alarm until 25 mph). I need a watch or wrist mountable gps to track my speed.! We may argu .. discuss the pros and cons of our chosen new generation wheels, but one thing they all have in common - "They all float .. ". "Danger Will Robinson". -
Just updated to v1.09 using Android app 1.50. Trolley sensors calibration is now gone, and seems to be automatic. No other changes noticed. This version is suppose to fix also the firmware freeze issue in trolley mode.

Hi, Just did update from v1.06 to v1.07 using king song app v1.50 on Android. Worked as a charm ! Low speed motor off detection seems to work better now. Also battery LED indicator seems to showing real status. Moreover in seems that low battery voltage speed was adjusted... Thanks King Song for frequent updates, looks like you really listen to your customers.

My KS18L died today, here is how and what happened: - Firmware version 1.0.7, Battery 90%, Mode Beginner, Speed Max 25Km/H - Battery was 100% and I drive for about 8km, temperature outside was around 33°C. - After driving, I took the wheel in trolley mode, as I was shopping, and walk with it for about 15 minutes inside a shop with aircon. - After 15 minutes walk, the wheel suddenly tremble once and then switch off. At last that was what I was thinking because there was no lights, on/off button has no effect etc... - I noticed that the wheel was becoming more and more warm, despite give no sign of life... Also the wheel was very hard to turn... I think it's a motherboard issue... Probably Mosfets died and made a short circuit... I decided to open the wheel and disconnect the battery cable as it was becoming more and more warm and I was worrying that it can take fire... I've noticed that motor cable was very hot too, so it just confirms to me that there mosfets died in a "short circuit" mode... Also the fan was running and there was a green light switched on on the motherboard... No other signs of life... No bluetooth... etc... Hope this kind of details can help King Song to make a fix for it. If there are any questions, please feel free to ask.
