    16x or 18xl

wanting to upgrade in the next couple months from nb s1 to either ks 16x or ks 18xl. new to euc world. so battery and motor being the same which wheel would be more fitting for someone if 5’10 165lb, no commuting, no off roading as main part of it, using it for fun, riding around 20 miles round trips maybe little longer. like it to be nimble and responsive yet somewhat forgiving. any input is appreciated thx
  2. Something is really wrong with my KS 18XL. I went to update the KS App to 1.13 As the firmware was updating, white lights, one at a time, would light up, showing the progress. After the firmware update to 1.13 was complete (maybe?) all the white lights remained lit, the power was on and the wheel seemed locked up. It was hard to move it back and forth. I could not get any response from it. All lights remained lit. I could not turn it off. I restarted my phone to see if it would reload the firmware - no change I deleted and reloaded the KS App (Blue) - no change I finally removed the case and unplugged the battery - both sides - lights went out. But, Now I can't get my wheel to power up and stay powered up The Bluetooth on my iPhone says it is connected to KSMusic but no Sign of my wheel in the devices but I can access the app If I hold the power button down I hear the speakers click on, the voice announces “bluetooth connected” and the KS APP seems to connect. But, as soon as I release the power button, the speakers make that click sound again and and the APP disconnects. The only way the wheel stays on ( or at least in a limited form) is if I keep my finger on the power button. When I keep my finger pressed on the power button I can access the app and see what the stats are. The firmware stat says Version 0.00 So, something is really wrong with my wheel and it seems and I cannot use my wheel at this point, at all. Any Thoughts? Does anyone have any details on how to downgrade the firmware back to 1.12 using an iPhone or get past the "current one is the latest version - I know it" screen so I can try and get any firmware in this thing?
  3. WHICH UNICYCLE DO YOU THINK SHOULD BUY? WHICH ONE SHOULD İ BUY????
  4. Hi! I'm newbie with EUC, ordered KS18XL with big pedals, leider it came with small pedals, the big ones I got separately, but, and here is a question, maybe stupid, in the hole for the axis on small pedals bolt thread is on both sides, on big pedals only on one side, so it should be? Or is it a defect? Theoretically, if you cut the axis itself a bit, then you can tighten the bolt on one side only because the axis does not pass through the other side. But i don't think it should be so.
  5. I though it might be useful to have place to check what is latest firmware version. I just got version 1.09 updated as I post this, the update completed successfully. Edit: @US69poster this change log. V 1.09: 1. Added multi-RGB pattern, mode 1 is automotic mode2. Self-checking the match of firmware version and series number, if not match, the wheel will loose balanceV1.081. Automatic sensor calibration2. Avoid wheel freeze issue.
  6. Hi I just got a KS-N1-B for my wife who can't ride euc. Basic question: How do you turn the headlights on? I've tried turning it on in the dark in case they are automatic like my 18L. I can't see a switch anywhere. 😒 @The Fat Unicyclist

  8. Hi there! (I checked a few threads but I was not able to find an answer to my question). I had a Kingsong 16S (V1) for about three months. My first wheel. And I loved it. After the purchase, I've heard about the new 16S (V2) with a few upgrades that include the lift sensor (that is IMO very useful). So I've decided to sell it immediately to buy the new version. I sold it for good money and the upgrade to 16S (V2) should cost me just a few bucks. BUt now I'm in doubt about this purchase. :/ Should I go with 16S (V2) or the recent revision of Gotway Tesla (V2) that includes the lift sensor too? What would be the pros and cons of these two wheels? I know the price is not exaclty the same but they are close. What would you be your suggestion? Thanks so much!
  9. Finally got down to making an adaptor for my impending KS16X As I come from an escooter background, I have a large collection of fast chargers. They usually use the 3 pin GX16-3 connector. Made an adaptor to use my fast charger with the Lenovo connector. It was really rough finding this at the electronic shops in Singapore. I mated it with a voltmeter that is calibrate-able so that the output reading is as close to 84.0V Here is the reading with the 5A 72V(84v) charger attached Some of my voltmeters and adaptors. You can see the gx16-3 to gx16-4 adaptor at the back. I use that to charge my Gotway MSX. Can’t wait for the KS16X to be here!
  10. I'm looking to purchase my first EUC and have a few questions on wheel size. I've ridden a friend's EUC a few times and think I'm ready to commit. Right now I have it narrowed down between the Kingsong 18XL and the Kingsong 16X. This is based on the following criteria in no particular order: Range of at least 30mi/50km Comfortable for 10-15mi commute (each way) Able to fit on a bus if the weather is bad (there is usually plenty of space available on the buses where I am, so it could share the seat next to me if necessary) Hill climbing (I live in the mountains so I need some torque to get up/down the hills) Off-road capable (I'd like to take this on some nearby trails that include some tree roots, bumps, drops, gravel, loose dirt, etc) Reliable (I've heard to stay away from the first few batches of a wheel while the kinks are worked out) Speed of at least 20mph/33kph From what I've gathered on my searches: Small wheels are best for: Hill climbs (smaller wheels have more torque since they require less energy to move one full rotation) Agility (less mass/inertia) Large wheels are best for: Commuting (the larger the wheel, the larger the bumps it can "ignore" or not feel) Long rides (larger surface area on the pavement feels "smoother") Gravel/Off-road bumpy terrain (aforementioned reasons ^^) Sorry for the long read, but here are my questions. How big of a difference in comfort is between an 18" and 16" wheels when commuting/off-roading, and how much of a torque difference between the two? Will the 16" be a noticeably better hill climber than the 18", or overheat as easily as the 18xl as @Marty Backe has shown in his videos? How much should I be worried about first/second batch issues with the 16X? TLDR; I want a wheel for commuting and off-road with good range and torque. What are the pro's/con's of a 16" over an 18" and how big of a difference between the two? Thanks in advance for the help and insights!
  11. Hi all There are some places still selling the batery pack for the kingsong KS-14b. This is an 16 cell pack (16 in serie) with 174wh that maybe can be used in other euc, so for 100€ doesn't look a bad value for the money if my assumption are correct. Can anyone tell me if this baterry pack as bms included? And what it is connected to the metal contacts? Thanks
  12. I got my 18S yesterday and the complaint I have with it is that unlike the 16S which pushes against my meaty calves... the 18S sits high so it pushes against the inside of my knees ... With less meat than the calves.. this is quite painful. And the only thing I seem to be able to do to lessen the pain is to ride with more bend in my knees to widen my legs out ... With this posture, any prolong period causes back to ache. Does anyone with 18S have this issue ? (pad pushes against your knees) If you do, what do you do to lessen the discomfort ? I tried putting on volleyball knee pads to cushion it against the EUC pads.. .but that just makes my knees even wider apart and feet farther positioned to the edge. I think if the pedals are wider.. this could allow me to move my knees away from the unit to lessen the pain.. but as it is.. I hardly have enogh room to stay on as it is. Strangely, my wife said she doesnt have this pain. May be its my boney knees. I dont know.
  13. Hello My name is Carl Irjala and I live here in the city of Kotka, which is near the Russian border. If you allow, I wish to start writing to you about my experiences as a brand new electric unicyclist. I'm a soaring pilot with several hundred landings behind me. So when I saw a video on YouTube that told that riding an EUC feels like flying I became instantly interested about it. So my first topic is about the experience of buying my first EUC and the learning process. The EUC brand is here in Finland so new that I had to search abroad to get reasonable information about it. My mother tongue is Swedish and Finnish. In those languages there is not enough information that would make me to buy an EUC. Luckily, I found this forum and the members' YouTube videos. Lots of sellers at the Internet do not communicates in English, so I was totaly dependent on the information you provide in this forum. Another matter that affected the choice of my first EUC was transport and tax costs. I have bought a lot of products directly from America and China, but sometimes the goods come with a shipping / duty surcharge that can be up to one hundred percent of the value of the product and sometimes not. So this makes the purchase a little risky. I found only one seller who provided clear information about shipping and taxation charges to Finland. After payment, it only took five days to get home the product from Poland (see image files). So in full, the whole process was quite easy. My next post will be a video about learning to ride the EUC. In that video you will see a whole new method how to do it. So, stay tuned on this topic. Kind regards Carl

  15. Hello my friends! This question is for 18XL owners... Can you share with me the true range your 18XL can make? +Your weight? The temperature outside? Thank you a lot, it will help me a lot... Have a great day guys!
  16. Dear riders and KingSong representatives! Maybe somebody can help me to diagnose and understand what is the issue with KS-18L? You can see everything in the video: my EUC was charging and I just started to rub and wipe it with paper napkins, suddenly I heard regular beeps (every 2-3 seconds) and when I turned it on I saw unusual red LED indicators (1st and 9th from each side). The problem is floating, it's difficult to cause it again, but it happened already few times with my KS-18L. After turning off/on everything is OK and riding is normal without any troubles. Does anybody know what is the issue and what do that red LED indicators and regular beeps mean? videocompress-016-VID_20190323_150410.mp4
  17. I´m getting an exclamation mark in the app and when I click on it, this screen appears. Is there anybody outthere, who is able to translate this info? My chinese is a littly rusty
  18. Hi guys, I wish to disassemble my wheel because I have two loose screws on the shell. I also want to seal the wheel arch to make it really waterproof. I've made holes in the pads so I can remove sides easily. My firts question is how can I remove the top plate ? It seems that it can not slide because of the radiator and the bell mounted on it. Any advices ? I will upload more photos as I progress. Thanks.
  19. I’ve had my wheel a couple of weeks now and today after about an hour on the GenV charger set at 3A my wheel started beeping about once every 5 seconds. I unplugged it and waited a few minutes then plugged it back in and it continued charging without any issues. Any ideas why it was beeping?
  20. New King Song App is now available for iOS in the app store. Very blue, kinda like another popular EUC manufacturer app
  21. I bought a charge doctor for my kingsong ks16s, with a three pin plug at each end. I would like an adaptor so that the charge doctor can be used with gotway msuper x ( 4 pin plug ). Any idea where I can get one ( actually two, one at each end, I suppose ? ) without having to solder anything?
  22. First off I like both wheels and I am not here to tell you that one wheel is better that the other. There are strong opinions both ways and the people with those opinions are not crazy or finding faults where there are none. The truth is these wheels are very different. Switching from one wheel to the other shows obvious changes in reaction in you and the wheel. The following is observation, research and educated guessing. I could be wrong. Relatively Speaking: KingSong 18XL This wheel is very refined and uses advanced software. 1) The software allows a lower spike in amperage to achieve the same acceleration. Instead of one quick high spike In amperage it gives a longer burst of lower amperage. (Per correction time unit) 2) The software also aids the rider in creating acceleration. When you first lean on an XL the wheel hesitates to accelerate at first. It allows you to get in front of the wheel and then ramps up the power to catch you. When switching from the MSX to the XL this hesitation, dip and ramping up is very obvious to me. After a few seconds of adjusting to the wheel I think,”WOW!, This thing has pep!” You can roll and twist and throw yourself off balance and the wheel just catches you....... Untill you maneuver too quickly. It takes time for the wheel to catch up. This results in an unexpected jolt of force or a momentary loss of personal balance and pressure against the pedals. In the world of motor controls this action of going from a stop, rounding up to a steady acceleration then reducing the acceleration to a plateau of a steady speed is called the “S curve” Over all the system tends to give the rider a smoother more intuitive ride. It also gets more out of less. More mileage and great acceleration out of smaller board components. The one negative observation that I have found is that at high speed hitting a bump can set off a series of miscommunications. The hesitation, the lack of something to push on caused by a dip in the pedal that results in a rush of acceleration or braking that I did not intentionally request. This problem can usually be remedied by riding like a sane person. This wheel is best suited for people that enjoy the finer things like a smooth intuitive ride with options like speakers and lift handle cut off. It is less suited for people that say things like “ Hey! .. You want to race?” Or “ I bet I can jump over that missing man hole cover” MSuper X This wheel does not have the fancy software. It uses a larger more powerful board. Power saving and amp spike reduction be damned. You do not have the exaggerated S curve to get you going. When switching to the MSX from the XL most people (beginners especially) complain that it takes soooo much more pressure on the toes to move the thing. It is actually kinda sluggish! When you start to lean on the MSX the wheel immediately starts to compensate for your actions. This disallows you to lean forward making acceleration difficult. The wheel will not allow you to get off balance. The solution is to let yourself fall forward on the wheel without putting pressure on your toes. Then once you are leaning apply pressure to your toes. You could say that the XL has an automatic transmission ( the S curve) and the MSX has a clutch. ( you fall forward then put pressure on the toes. When switching from the MSX to the XL I forget and treat the XL like I would the MSX. I fall forward then apply pressure to my toes only to get a hesitation. I then apply more pressure fearing that I am going to fall on my face. By that time it takes off like a rocket. WOW! This thing has pep. The MSX requires more riding skills on your part and in exchange leaves the decisions to you. It does not guess your intentions or aid you in them. It remains indifferent. So witch is better? The XL is more refined with better fit and finish. More options like speakers, lift handle cut off, and it comes with a mud guard. It gives a more pleasant Intuitive ride at speeds below 25 mph. ( I love the thing) The MSX is a no nonsense, you do the driving wheel. You have to man handle the thing in turns, braking and acceleration. It has a larger board that allows higher continuous amperage. It accelerates and brakes faster. It tends to be more stable at speeds above 25 mph........(and I love it more ....... unless I am cruising behind my wife at 12 mph.)
