Thanks for the answer. Does it give the 18XL that comfort and cushiness of the msx? or maybe it is the choice of the type of rubber? I wish kingsong made a 18XL Max with all of 18XL but with the MSX tire

Could you guys point me to a topic here or elsewhere where people fitted a kingsong 18XL with 18x3 inch tire like the MSX's . Essentially I am looking for a lightweight ( <= 25kg ) wheel with great autonomy like the 18XL but with cushy ( so no need for a suspension ) ride.

Hi; is this still available? -
Hi @alexnodigo I ride an EUC in France where insuring the pevs is possible and actually mandatory. I have mine insured through Wizzas; I am sure there are many others though. I pay something like 50 euros a year. Germany is in the list of countries for which the insurance is valid. I am not too sure what that means really, but at least maybe you can play good faith with that. You will need to give them the serial number of the wheel; I just took what I saw on the pedal of my kingsong (KS18LXXXXXXXXXX90) . I use this to affix it on the wheel.

Is it legal to ride eucs in Dubai and the UAE? are there good cycle infrastructures?
-
No issue with the rain whatsoever, even when the whole commute is under heavy rain. The euc bodyguard I suppose helps a bit as well, because it absorbs the water (? ). I was stopped once in Chelsea, and twice in Battersea Park. So I resolved to avoid that park(they have their own dedicated police there). It seems the force receives some specific instructions from time to time or from place to place; sad but nothing we can do about really, apart from respecting the traffic rules and avoiding getting past them if at all possible. I pass next to Scotland Yard and the parliament every day though
-
Lol I could not use the 16s that much anyway, as my commute got longer, and I wanted to be able to come back with the wheel even when I forget or cannot charge it at the office.
-
As I really abandonned any other mode of transportation, I needed a permanent backup to any wheel I use for commuting. For my commute, which lasted more than one hour, the faster the better, so the MSX suited me better. But they both were reliable, so basically I alternate between them, with the MSX being a tiny bit less troublesome in the long run. But when it rains, I systematically use the 18XL, because the mudguard was a bit more effective.

This is my personal review of the msx and 18xl. This is from a perspective of someone not into the technical stuff, just a lazy "entitled" user. I posted a review of the 16s a few months ( years ? time flies ... ) ago, I was very happy with it, after putting some good many kms on it. I replaced it with the msx and 18xl, because I ride quite a lot as the eucs are my only mode of transportation. The transition: going from 16 inch to 18 inch has been smooth, no big deal at all; I thought the new wheels would be less nimble; maybe they are, but for my use, which is commuting a few dozen miles a day and chilling on eucs on weekends, I did not encounter any issues there. The ugly 1: the msx battery cannot charge above 83.0v anymore. To be honnest I don't know if it ever could, as I never checked before, but that is something I have seen these last days, and it got me worried a bit. I use the original 1.5A slow charger to 100% and the radwerk's rapid charger to sometimes 80% sometimes 90% with different intensities. The ugly 2: the 18xl has the tire shuffing on the shell, I don't know why; I have to look into this. The ugly 3: these last few days, the 18xl beeps 4 times when I start getting some speed. I don't know why, I have to look into this. The bad 1: not so bad, but still, annoyances. I had to open the 18xl four times in 2 years of ownership. First two was to replace the tires because they got flat. I use slime but apparently when the hole is on the side of the tire it does not work that well. Or maybe I did not put enough or too much slime, who knows. The other two times was because I changed the inner shells both sides. I am not sure if that was really needed, but I saw they cracked where the bolts are bolted onto the wheel, and I experienced some shuffing of the wheel onto the shell on one side. The bad 2: not so bad again, but here you go. The msx trolley snapped ( the plasticky thing got broken at the junction with the rods ) once when I mishandled the trolley ( to be honnest I did not understand what happened, I just turned on the left and the wheel went bezerk ). So I had to replace the plastic handle with a 3D printed one from thingverse. The normal: I had to replace the trolley handle for my 18xl, because the wheel fell on a wall while the trolley was extended, thus bending the rods. The good 1: I never had to open the msx, no need, no flat tire, nothing. I don't remember if I put slime in the tire, I suppose I did, because I intended to do that for all my wheels. The good 2: I use the euc bodyguards from roll.nz, thanks @The Fat Unicyclist. Great gear; since I put them on, no new damage to the shells. I asked for personal customization, that was done very very well. I ranted a bit here some time ago about a minor thing, but that was an overreaction, maybe some bad coffee I drank that day or something.. Overall very happy with the gear, it adds protection and personnalization. The good 3: I have clocked 10000 km on the msx, bought and used since around january 2019, 6500 km on the 18xl, bought and used since maybe may 2019. They have replaced my car, my use of public transports, and some of my hobbies. Overall, I am very happy with those wheels, they performed well above my expectations, they did not cut out or do anything like that. Once I fix the uglies above, I will send them to retire in Africa for when I go on holiday there. I intend on replacing them with the sherman for long distance riding and commuting, and maybe with the 16x for fun riding in the city.

My intention is not to harm the business; we found a way to get this moving, and I am grateful for that. I will get my bodyguard soon hopefully I found this alternative, not sure of its qualities and customer service. The web site is a bit unusual, and the quality seems different. If someone has any feedback, that will be welcome. http://www.alexaao.com/#delivery#!/tproduct/140058070-1497456130776 Same as in the EUC manufacture, competition is key to improvement, methink.

I have both UK and FR payment, yes; I need to use the french payment though, for some complicated reason, including the fact that I am confined in France now; if I select UK, then I am given the choice to use a credit / debit card or paypal, and I don't need any paypal account; if I choose FR, I can only either create a paypal account or use an existing one. I don't understand that. I just want to be given the choice to either use a paypal account or not at all, as everybody else it seems. My words might seem a bit strong, talking about discrimination, but that is how I feel. Now if french people without paypal account cannot buy them, then too bad; but is there any alternative? I so want my euc bodyguard
-
I want a new bodyguard for my wheel. I have bought a euc bodyguard from @The Fat Unicyclist in the past. I am very happy with it. Very good product, very good customer service. But for some reason we french customers do not have the option to buy using bank cards directly and are required to use paypal; uk people are able to choose not to use paypal. I don't like paypal, and more importantly I don't like that discriminatory practice. No idea about the legality of it, I don't care that much. But I need a new bodyguard for my new wheel. So is there any alternative? Sorry if this looks like a bashing of an otherwise good business and product; but as a consumer, I need either the choice of provider, or at least the same choice other people have. Or am I asking for too much?

Moved from France to UK - what a disapointment! Tips wanted

If you ride on the pavement, you can get fined, but theoretically they cannot confiscate your wheel. On the other hand, on the road or on a cycling lane, the fine can be way higher and they can confiscate your wheel. So I am told; please double check. In any case, just avoid any contact with coppers, nothing good can be had from there unfortunately. They usually wear high-vis jackets, and mostly keep around the "cycling super highways" when trying to crack down on electric vehicles, so are not too hard to spot. Avoid the Battersea Park like plague, and Chelsea if at all possible. They must have special instructions there to be tough on PLEVs. Personnally I subscribed to an insurance in France with an address in France. The insurance reads valid in the whole of EU, though I am sure it is useless in the UK, especially after brexit. My intention is to play dumb innocent tourist, and produce it as a kind of justification of my good intentions, in case I get approached by the police. That won't fly very high though. If they stop you, do not argue too much; they have the law with them, eucs are illegal in the UK. You need to talk your way out of the situation quickly, which frankly is not too hard, but heavily depends on the individual case. Good luck -
Thanks @PogArt Artur Yes they can increase their results / quotas easily with us commuters, we have a very predictable pattern Beware, crackdown on electric devices seems intensifying these days https://www.lbc.co.uk/news/nearly-100-electric-scooters-users-stopped-london/
