  1. Living in a college town the responses are great best I’ve got was: A group of girls in an SUV that almost ran me over trying to chase me down, all with their phones out recording me, and as I’m making a left turn and them a right turn, one of the girls boldly shouts “we should fu*k sometime!!” I may or may not have sped up to get a name and number

  2. So i was riding in Blackpool today when a homeless guy shouted me over and said , I've just done a sketch for you,, i was quite impressed tbh simple but affective,, ofc i game him some money , he didn't actually ask for money which is nice, glad he's putting his little drawings to some use rather than just begging. Hope he's ok 👍 Here's the pic

  6. Guys... Stop trying to focus on the mirror. That's not how it works. Your focal distance is to the object seen in the mirror, not to the mirror itself. https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/24711/why-is-the-focus-distance-for-a-mirror-image-further-than-the-surface-of-the-mir/24713 Train your eyes to do this (is actually easy) by looking at objects both in front and behind you in your mirror at similar distances. Try this off your EUC first (heh) to see how it feels. Now, of course, especially if you're nearsighted (and/or farsighted) then this technique won't work any better (obviously) then your forward vision. Sorry, no miracles, that will cost extra. You'll find rear view mirrors most effective when viewing objects at a similar distance behind you than objects in your unmirrored forward vision. This way, your eyes only need to minimally refocus and the experience is much more seamless. I attach with Dual Lock Velcro™ and prefer a shorter "stalk" (for a larger-appearing reflective surface) mounted at or above the browline, all to minimize (the already minimal) intrusion risk on impact.

  7. Let me describe a simple test you can do yourself. Confirm that the ride mode is Hard Ride the wheel on a smooth surface at a moderate speed (~10-mph) Apply some back-and-forth motion with you legs. The wheel should not respond to these inputs (besides slowing and speeding up slightly). However, with these wheels you will instead experience a rocking motion.

  8. Many thanks to all who responded. Good to get a variety of opinions. Re pain disappearing with practice: I take your point, but for me it is bad enough to put me off ever learning to ride. I had wondered about padding, but all the online pics I had seen showed no pads. So now I have a pair of custom-made sheepskin leather pads! Otherwise known as a pair of wife's old mittens, thumbs cut off, stuffed with layers of bubble wrap. Maybe not the coolest, but then one of the few benefits of being old is that you don't need to look cool any more. I have before and after pics, but cannot see how to attach them -- possibly I'm too new to have that privilege.

  9. I rode a 16X all 7 days of Marty's LA TOUR. 16X worked flawlessly despite multiple drops and wipe outs. As mentioned by many the torque at the lower speeds can't be underestimated. How the the wheel is able to utilize the power to propel us is magical. On same trail with ACM2 dispite the power it lacks traction to be able to utilize its power. From the tour 16X was the trails winner. However from this tour we've realized 1600 Wh just is not enough.

  10. Z10 is a bit of a marginal wheel, and quite a few users have developed nasty battery/BMS issues in 6 months. I can’t recommend the Z10 unless you’re certain your mind wouldn’t be at rest with any other wheel. If KS will fix the weatherproofing and firmware/power issues on the 16X, it is going to be an easy recommendation for most people. But as it is ATM, perhaps best to wait. 18XL, MSX and to some extent the Nikola are the proven choices at the moment. 18XL V2 is the best complete package with unparallelled range and comfort, MSX is a no-bullshit raw powerhouse with a questionable comfort, and the Nikola is a much more trolleyable and a slightly peppier version of the MSX with some minor questionable design points. V10F is a nice ride but doesn’t reach the speed, performance and range of others mentioned. Wether the new pedals fixed the tendency to crack is still unknown, so with your weight I’d be careful. Others than the MSX seem to have somewhat passable weather proofing. Every wheel has it’s drawbacks, you just have to choose which are the ones you can live with. Fe. do you carry or trolley the wheel daily, will you eventually be riding hard, etc.

  13. The problem is not the Wh... The problem is too much Korean BBQ and beer! Not that I'm judging, mind you. I just accept that my excessive lifestyle has an impact on my range.

  14. I really don't get it why inmotion sent pre-production models to dealers with unfinished hardware. Even the motor is not final. They may be open for prejudice. The other thing concerns me is they used identical mainboard with V8. I was expecting some change on design to compensate an upgrade. Wish at least they used better components this time, I've an history with blown motherboard. Preordered anyway. I sold my V8 a month ago, tried everything from 16S to Gotway Nikola and 16X, couldn't think any other wheel on this price/performance/portability sweet spot.

  15. It doesn’t seem to be linear though. There are steps where a natural range of the tours around you are reached, which seems to slow down wanting more. For me just going from 1600 to 1850 on the 84v MSX stopped it from beeping on my favourite off-road tour, so I’m no longer in a hurry to install the second 250Wh. Come summer though...
    2 points
  16. Dang I remember when I thought 1050wh was plenty. Then you see the 1600wh coming out and you think oh man I can go for days on that. It's the age old story of you can never have enough. Picked up a monster 2400 because my Nikola almost ran out of juice on me going 35 miles on the river mountain loop trail here in vegas( guess I'm fat or theres lots of up hill riding, or both). Haven't had the chance to run it with the monster though because it's been very brisk here past two weeks. Cant wait to try with that nice seat though

  17. Marty, when are you coming up to Sacramento to test ride mine?👍🏻 I haven’t been over 20 yet, but it sounds like it could be the whole batch. Jason, you you sending new boards to all the 100v owners?

  18. I bought cheap wrist guards initially.Had a fall and the wrist guard instead of absorbing the fall/protecting, broke a bone in the hand as the design did not disperse the energy. You can go down the path of cheap or no protection, but we all fall at some stage.Experience tells me that the smarter way to go is buy the best equipment you can afford. And use it!

  19. So I have been riding my V10F now in rain, without any issues (yesterday). So today I rode the first frosty day....all going well until.... On my way home I am to make left turn after crossing a pedestrian crossing. Then women....like always brings out the accidents 🙄😇🤕 As I accelerated passed then and doing a sharp left turn I forgot the cold just a micro secound. And of course the wheel started to slide out on the white epoxy markings...as being out of winter practice I over corrected of course with the result going down...and the embarrassment.... Tore my reflective cycle/rain jacket as I slided on the asphalt. But it was relative low speed but I took a hard hit on my right elbow despite being fully geared up. So it is a bit sore this evening. So I forgot to let out air as I have been riding the V10F a little over inflated especially in icy conditions. I can only blame myself for this one. So for those on you wondering the V10F is inscaved and well but got it first pedal scratch as it tumbled to a stand still.

  20. Thank you so much Marty to came out and test my MSX, my wheel is defective is BAD. Also tried ride seated, ever worse! It rocking front and back so bad, not able to do it at all. I rided seated with my KS18AY over thousand miles. Peter Q

  21. Thanks! Decided it was better to just take the leap and buy one than to keep asking questions and waste my chance of getting a 300€ Black Friday discount I think it's batch...4? So I imagine it won't have a CX tire. I wonder what FW version it'll be on...glad to hear 1.0.7 isn't all that bad after all. What I don't fancy is the whole KS unlocking process....man do I hate that app! Can't wait to get it! It's on its way from China, so it'll be here in about a month. Will keep watching videos in the meantime to keep myself worked up! And with that, I think I'll quit derailing this here thread...

  24. To be fair, this video was shot in August, when it was probably even warm where you are Today, the temperature in Southern California is only going to reach 58. I'm freezing my butt off A lot of people have gotten the Nikola, but the MSX is still a strong contender around here.

  25. This fleet of EV's exceed 300,000 each. Few have driven a Tesla to the point at which the vehicle really starts to show its age. But Tesloop, a shuttle service in Southern California comprised solely of Teslas, was ticking the odometers of its cars well past 300,000 miles with no signs of slowing. https://qz.com/1737145/the-economics-of-driving-seven-teslas-for-2-5-million-miles/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=daily-brief I doubt anyone who has taken apart their EUC is surprised by this, as electric motors are astonishingly simple. I can see all-aluminum electric cars being kept for decades, with far simpler designs, and eventually becoming heirlooms to be passed down generations. I don't see how me keeping my car for ten years and then having to get a new one being at all practical for hundreds of years.

  26. Unfortunately, my wheel took a 150m tumble down a pretty steep hill... amazingly, this wheel takes a punishment and still rides. My wheel rim is bent and needs to be replaced... any ideas for where I can source replacement parts? Any guidance would be appreciated. I'd love to revive this rig!

  27. Glad you were geared up and that you're OK. Thanks for sharing your data to start this useful and enlightening discussion. A friend on FB shared a Wheellog screenshot after a no-load lift test of his 16X. Maxed out at 38 mph. That seems insanely low for a supposed ~31 mph wheel. Could a no-load lift test on a wheel be used to "calibrate" a function in EUC World that could be used to calculate an approximate safety threshold in real-time? Maybe if a riding weight parameter is stored as well? @Seba

  29. It's not a wobble. Have you ridden in Soft mode and then in Hard mode? Can you tell the difference? In Soft mode it almost feels like you're in a car with bad shocks. As you hit bumps, the pedals rock back and forth gently. This problem is like that, but rougher and worse. Maybe if the wheel feels great to you guys you should forget about it and enjoy the wheel.

  32. Still happily riding my P together with some other newer wheels. The P works just like the first day, no issues or motherboard problems. It must have around 4000km and even with rough usage it performs flawlessly.

  34. M365 Pro version is 474Wh battery ... identical to v8 as same cells used. Motor is also 1000W peak. Scooter seems to be more complex to manufacture with more parts than simpler EUC, but as it is produced in greater numbers it is cheaper.

  36. As the same handle extends as a trolley, it cuts the power with extended handle as well. I might consider it if the weight was below 15 kg, pedals were high enough to steer clear off the ground in sharp turns and side cushions wouldn't so wide that hurting my legs.

  40. Just watched the EcoDrift video and man does that guy miss the point entirely. The V8 is the best-selling EUC of all time according to several retailers, due to some combination of being specifically the best "last-mile" wheel and/or a great first wheel (full 16" tire yet only 30-32lbs with excellent trolley handle for a great price). And the V8F updates are all direct improvements (modest bumps to motor and batteries, return to larger 2.125" tire, larger/better V10-style pedals, added V10-style pads, etc)--pretty much/most everything you could do to improve it without a significant increase to weight or price which would undermine its unique strengths/focus/place in the market. If someone was considering a V8 before they should definitely get the V8F instead. If you thought the V8 was a great recommendation for someone before, the V8F would be an even better recommendation instead. If someone was torn between a V8 and a KS16S before, the V8F only strengthens the InMotion side in that comparison (without changing the fundamentals, like if you need the larger range or weight limit of the KS16S). If someone needs something fundamentally larger, the updates from the V8 to the V8F are obviously not going or meant to address that. (Except maybe in the V8[F] vs KS16S comparison, if someone was considering the latter mainly just for the extra few mph which the V8F now matches.) The V8F looks to be the perfect example of what a refresh /should/ be (versus the release of a new wheel), updating a well-received product/bringing it up-to-date without changing its identity/focus/place in the market. __ Now if we could just get a similar refresh to the V10F with a 31 mph top speed and ~1600Wh battery option for ~$2k. (Even better if it had a trolley handle like the V8.) If InMotion could hit that (coupled with their existing production values) it would change the market virtually overnight. (The speed demons would stick with the 100V wheels, but for everyone else it would be a strong contender for the best all-around category/under 31 mph.)

  46. @Marty Backe You can't take your own very limited personal experience and scale it up to the country. If you'd have lived among homeless people, you'd find that almost none of them have health coverage. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/9/10/20858938/health-insurance-census-bureau-data-trump @mike_bike_kite wasn't wrong, he simply quoted a number from 2011. Right now it's about 8%, 27.5mil, which is a lot. https://www.americashealthrankings.org/explore/annual/measure/HealthInsurance/state/ALL According to this site Texas has 17% uninsured rate. And almost all of those people are royally screwed if they ever have a medical emergency.
